  1. Assuming you're riding Invercargill, front hub drive will be sweet. They don't love steep up hills. There's a place in Russia that seems to have success sending li-ion cells. Will see if I can remember where. Do the hub suppliers also sell a speed controller? Helps get rid of the few compatability issues that can arise. Awesome project!
  2. Boring daily wof chat. Failed a wof on 27. Headlights adjusted too low. Found this handy diagram Here's my pattern, about 50 mm lower @ 3.0m than the height of the centre of the beam. These lights have some kind of self levelling witchcraft, I'm reluctant to mess with them as they seem in spec to me, and it hasn't failed a WOF before, and haven't been touched. Am I missing the obvious somewhere? Apparently they were very apologetic about failing to my wife... Cheers!

  4. Jealous AF, I've only been a passenger in a Model S P90D. Would trade again.
  5. Yeah that was from 2017, I caught up with Ben yesterday (ex student of mine) and he asked if I wanted them. I guess there's only so much storage space.
  6. I could, but I need to get them here, plus not a small thing to store. I've emailed my teams to see how keen they are. I'm off to Hamilton to race electric vehicles next weekend for 4 days so I don't have the time to collect either. Would be a shame to see them dumped.
  7. Yep, I've offered them to my students, but realistically they won't be able to collect.
  8. I see you're putting this fine machine up for sale Nick, such pine!
  9. Glorious, my little brother had a stock 98 spec 4 door back in the mid 00s. It handled so well I’m sure the slightly shorter wheelbase will make it feel even more go-kart like. The rattles were what made him flick it on in the end, but in hindsight it deserved a thorough going over.
  10. My gut instinct is it wouldn't work, unless you did an awesome job of preheating the mould. With a melting point of 230C, and a maximum hot plate temp of ~300C more intricate moulds seem to suffer even if they've got great flow through their runners and out their risers. The biggest thing I've pewter cast with success would be maybe 1/8 of that size with a mould preheated to 190C (MDF ignites >200C). My 2 cents...
  11. Dude, you made an electronic ignition and installed it into a car older than microprocessors, and it ran. I'm impressed, and would love to see it.
  12. Hi knowledgeable OS folks, little bro is at the tail end of swapping a manual transmission and SR20DET into his originally auto and SR20DE 180SX Type S. These two plugs - for the ECU to dash connection are not compatible and some of the wiring is different coloured. My instinct was to depin the SR20DE ECU plug end and install onto the SR20DET ECU, but as well as some of the wiring being different colours, some of the pins are of different sizes. So my 2 questions are - does anyone have a good wiring diagram for the motor and/or the body? And the second is, would this be the source of a crank, but no start issue. I assume so, but without a wiring diagram I'm not sure. Cheers!
  13. I’ve got to go to Cromwell tomorrow so I guess it’s poos weather for me.
  14. Get some aluminium round of the appropriate diameter and we could have a go at making some on the lathe? @Archetype could make some decals to go on the flats or we could laser cut a template?
  15. I'd have a single garage available if someone wanted to attend both days without leaving vehicles outside overnight.
  16. Definitely not clear on the website, I've read through every bit of info on there. Seems like an oversight - I guess email info@wheelsatwanaka.co.nz If you need a hand with shuttling or towing or whatever let me know, as I'll have a car with a towball and staying with my in-laws so plenty of time to kill...
  17. Or for a little more go https://evsource.com/products/hyper-9
  18. Any dates pencilled in around this? Having MTB'd both I'd be keen to give the Lifan a proper run...
  19. @mattj @maxted @Transom Good idea - I'll be at a kids MTB race at Rabbit Island so will try pop along after.
  20. Rainbow station is the sticking point - only open to the public from December 26th until Easter - my pick would be as late as possible. Something to clarify would be whether the Maungatapu Track is open to bikes from the saddle into the Maitai. The caretaker always used to be bike friendly. The other option on small bikes is the North bank of the Wairau from Renwick to St Arnaud. Would definitely need some sussing out first to see if this is doable as officially it's definitely not something you're supposed to do... https://www.topomap.co.nz/NZTopoMap?v=2&ll=-41.712072,173.103247&z=15 @scooters probably has an idea if this might be a possibility...
