About 60km round trip and old mate thought he was a race car driver. Pretty sure he pissed off everyone else on the road. Did go well to be fair. Think it ended up getting Tboned at the Tauranga turn off. @vintage grumble may remember him. Replaced it with a s14 silvia Paul Barnett? He's got a black one that seems to spend 99% of it's life waiting for parts for whatever's broken this time.

Alfashark
Small world eh? It was a mutual friend of ours that had the red one on OZ rims that I mentioned a page or two back, and likely what gave Paul the itch that his GTIR scratched.
Popular Post nick_m
Drove this from my work shop to home on the weekend. I live on same street as work shop so we are talking less than a 2km drive. I had my wife and 4 year old drop me down at the workshop to pick it up. When i backed it our of the workshop my young fella who was in his car seat with the window down goes "I DIDNT KNOW THIS WAS FIXED!!! CAN I GO IN IT!!!" unfortunately the interior was such a state with no rear seat and car parts all through it that it wasnt possible this time, but he was FIZZED. Got it home and had a pretty big grin on. Reckon its time to push on and finish this thing so can load the family in it and do some summer time driving. was a big mood booster thats for sure

Then Covid hit in 2020, and the reality set in that I was never going to justify spending the money they were now commanding on another. Gutted I sold it, as I loved the heck out of it. Shouldn't have listened to the now wife. Great to see another still alive and kicking, with a bit of love given to it. I'm pretty sure it was me and my buddy who brought this. It was down in Wellington? We road tripped it back to Auckland, picked up some hitch hikers, dropped them in Raglan and went for a surf. We gave it a service on ANZAC day then took it to Hampton Downs that weekend. Ripper of a car. I sold it to a primary school teacher in Auckland who sold it again a few months after buying it from me. Edit, now that I think about it, maybe you brought it from me? Yep, I was the one who bought it off you. Forever regret selling it. That was a ripper of a car! I know the engine was blown after I sold it, as Geoff Philip ended up purchasing it and putting in another engine. Andrew Scarles (or whatever is surname is. The bloke who sells cheap Chinese shit, and now cars out of Japan) ending up buying it off him and jacking up the price immediately. Not sure where it is now. Popular Post nick_m
Drove this the other day. Threw the interior in it last minute as thought it was a cruise with mates. bit of an odd one out in that line up haha anyway mixed results. Fantastic to have it out and about. Diffs are sweet. Interior is in. however in keeping with the theme of the car. It absolutely smoked its tits off and the clutch slips so more shit to fix havent investigated yet. But suspect maybe turbo seals gone and pushing out to exhaust. It’s a fucking impressive smoke cloud. It has sat for over a decade I suppose this should be expected Anyway, good times had regardless - ensue next round of wallet abuse 15

nick_m
Have done fuck all on this really. I have Driven it a couple times. Still chuffing smoke a bit. I have brought a new Turbo CHRA so will strip it soon when I have a bit of time and swap that over. I figure I will also do a compression and leak down test on it while I’ve got the intercooler off too and give I a good once over.
RUNAMUCK
I think I saw you driving this through the Anzac drive round about a week or three back. Be sure to decrease the inside of the Intercooler if it needs it. I've read that a super oily Intercooler doesn't transfer heat as well as a not oily one. (Not trying to tell you how to suck eggs)
nick_m
probably was. I drove the young fella to school on his birthday in it. As he fizzes it. Although he did say I need to get music box for it. also on that note. Jeez it needs some shocks and sway bars done. Those round abouts are not its friend. I’ve actually got a new core here to recore the intercooler so I might even do that at same time while it’s all apart as not really a big job List is big. Time is low
