Popular Post Chris.QCR Posted June 27, 2014 Popular Post Posted June 27, 2014 So ive brought a new bike! Something ive wanted for sometime ! A 1980 Ironhead Sportster! Recently Imported from California. Been Complied and got a fresh Wof. Just gotta register and get plate. Was started to be changed and owner changed mind and brought a new bike. Was missing rear guard, stays & seat. Have tracked these down. Has also had a later model sportster tank fitted and Biltwell Low Drag bars fitted. Pick up on Sunday so will sort photos out then! Have small plans to begin with but much bigger plans down the track! Bike is also halfway to being reliable as the Ironheads are notorious for letting you down. Has had a new S&S Super E carb fitted. Next is to find a alternator to replace the Genny. Pining! 12 Quote

EURON8 Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 Nice work man!! I like this. some of the attached equipment can go though Quote
Chris.QCR Posted June 27, 2014 Author Posted June 27, 2014 Cheers for all the love guys . At moment plan is maybe lower the rear with shorter shocks and hunt out some 8 or 10 over forks for the front . Then some skinny bars and skinny tank with some some new paint . Then seat and sissy with some crazy pipes . Have plans to buy a new frame that's guardrail and had some rake thrown in then just convert everything over Quote
Chris.QCR Posted June 27, 2014 Author Posted June 27, 2014 That's meant to say hardtail. First thing tho is ride up to Arthur's pass with about a dozen old triumphs enfeilds norton sand Harley's and sleep in a shelter with a decent fire and smash some beers . Gonna be a good way to get used to the bike . About 20 k of gravel road to get to te shelter 2 Quote
Chris.QCR Posted June 27, 2014 Author Posted June 27, 2014 Nah no kick start. Would ideally like to do the conversion down the track Quote

Chris.QCR Posted June 27, 2014 Author Posted June 27, 2014 Keen to roll swingarm for quite awhile Quote
EURON8 Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 I dislike long forks with no corresponding rake modification . I do like the idea of a decent bike to start a project with, 1 Quote
SOHC Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 I look fward to seeing some photos, you will find it to be a tough reliable bike, The generator is fine and will give no trouble, its the regulators witch are annoying. The only trouble I have had is parts vibrating off, my rear exhaust pipe has come off twice and the headlight gets shaken to bits, This is my 1973 XLCH 3 Quote
pusherman Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 I got a 2003 100year sporty. So nice to ride. Im held by marrage not to modify it tho. Saying that do have roland sands air cleaner if any 1 wants. Please hardtail bober yours and post a kagillion pics. Thanks Quote
