CUL8R
Well, some of you may or may not know, but Im quite involved in speedway 25 Demolition Derbies thus far, rolled twice, been on fire 3 times, of those only driven off at the end 5 times. Crewed & had a peddle in a streetstock, production saloon & ministocks. Crewed for a Stockcar the past season, including building in the off season last year. Breif sort've run down on the rules so it makes some sense. Min Weight 1400kgs race ready, 1500kg excl driver. No multivalve engines, 2bbl Carbs - no injection allowed (although its getting closer every year). My Car is running a Standard 10 body, HQ 3 speed, Locked Hilux Diff, XF falcon front stubs, Skyline 4 pot on the diff. VL Calipers on the front. AU XR6 Tickford 4.0 Scrapped the old chassis, needed far too much work, and as pointed out on a regular basis by Colin & Michael - its far far easier to start fresh than spend hours mucking around with someone elses rubbish.. Started on the 24th july and things have progressed to how you see them so far. Learnt alot and my skill set seems to have increased somewhat under the guidance of Colin & Michael. Feel quite chuffed to have done basically everything thus far. Big thanks to Michael, who Im sure is sick of my endless questions. Colin, Stu for their input, Warwick at my old work for transporting the body down. Craig @ proparts for his help sourcing parts.

shizzl
heres a link to my one... theres is a reason they need to look strong, cos they do have to be strong,1500kg at pace hitting a concrete wall head on or another car, youd want it to stay together http://macgor.proboards.com/thread/28361/new-car-build-2013 mine is a different design to his
CUL8R
@ Shizzel, yea thats me, and yes been crewing for Colin & Michael/Stu, helped build the current car Colin has, and help along Stu. Things have been a little slow of late with The power outtage, had the flu and prepping the other two cars for Practise/start of season. Ordered the body from a guy called Mark in auckland - hardest part was sorting shipping which I had a stroke of luck on - guy I used to work for was bringing a LWB Transit down... CUL8R
Craig @ proparts napier, Afco's cost a bit more, but for the ease of them, and they're set up - ie lift up and tiedown. Reasoning being, if Im away and blow one I can scoot down to the local performance store - the edge, proparts, cardwells etc etc and they're on the shelf. The Coilover kit itself was the cheapest and nicest quality I've seen yet.. At craigs advice I put Eibach springs in - apparently the Qa1 springs are prone to sagging, and having the wrong rates. The Eibach are much much higher quality german spring steel.. @ Felixx far from dead, just tapped for time between work, stockcar, house and girlfriend - in that order lol
CUL8R
Managed to sneak a bit of work in between.. Completed one side today, will flip it upside down or onto its other side and do some more progress whilst the girlfriend is away. Ive got all the plate cut out, just light grinding for each piece before welding in fully. And Whilst its on is respective sides the box sections are all being welded. Will see how I get on Mon, Tues, but would like to get a little more done before we take off to Wanganui..
BlownCorona
Are you sure you've not got your stock car and panzer tank designs mixed up?
My name is Russell
Or would it have been easier to start with a solid block of steel and cut some holes in it Did not realise how solidly built these things are!

CUL8R
The guy I crew for is going up for the Nz Stockcar Grand Prix. Did a little more tonight, flipped it upside down and welded the underside of everything..
CUL8R
So after Wanganui, Palmy & Christmas I've managed to get a bit more done, and now with the help of Michael really getting back into it.. Floor is fully welded Firewall completed Just spent the night swapping diff head, axles into a new housing, slotting the motor back in the hole, and will bolt the gearbox up to start dummying things back up. Started radiusing the rear bumper too
