If we meet at Pak n' Save we can go the back way along Archers road, then left up that road that eventually becomes Esmonde road, then hang a left up Northcote road past the Mobil. Could also meet at the Repco as another option (perhaps more car-club friendly) and go up Porana road.

I get the feeling other people do the shopping in your respective houses. Pack N Save Wairau, with it's small and awkward carpark, is going to be not so much fun mid-morning on a Sunday.

It is possible to get out of the target carpark at the back and onto Porana Rd, which is not under construction, and has traffic lights.

However. My suggestion: Partmaster Wairau Road. It's on the right side of the road, pretty close to Tristram, and is closed on Sunday, so there should be no issues with parking. It's also easy to find.

If the sun is out, there's a chance all our cars will overheat before we get to longbay, because busy.

But it's a very pleasant suggestion, so keen, providing there is a back up plan - milling around confused outside the chip shop while noone makes a decision is not a back up plan btw.

Is there an alternative beach that we may be able to obtain parking at?

Takapoontang is pretty close isn't it?

Lake Rd on a Sunday is poos.

Long Bay is not usually crowded this time of year but would not want to put money on it.

Parking at any of the other Bays on a Sunday is busy (with the possible exception of Rothsebay)

The Pump House on Lake Pupuke is good with parking (and a cafe) or the park on the otherside?

More suggestions the better!
