Archetype
I'll be there competing, assuming the usual trailer hunt goes ok. I'm a little nervous about racing on the road as I've never done a hillclimb before, so I'll be watching that video repeatedly I'd say. Furai
I can never just watch it drives me mad
shaneo
I'm worried about road compared to track as well . But there is enough runs in the days so if I can get faster as the day goes I will be happy.
japawagons
Just take the practice slow and build confidence. There will always be next year to have another go.
drtdvl
My first run there ever was a 1:05, I think I broke into the high 59's once that day. My quickest ever was my third time there with a 56... It took 3 events before I was really comfortable there! Just remember you have driven quick on public roads before, this is no different except you legally can go over 100kph and use both lanes... Just go as fast as your comfortable.
japawagons
And enjoy yourself. There will always be a little Fiat Uno going alot slower up that hill then you...
M_C
Might actually be able to beat that silly quick uno, maybe...
Truenotch
I should still have my trailer up here next week Brent.
Archetype
Oh, that would be super helpful, Markku. It sounds like the trailer I'm planning on buying isn't quite going to be finished for this weekend. Shall I contact you on Saturday about borrowing it? Are you going to the hillclimb? Truenotch
Sounds good. I'm thinking I'll head out for a watch in the morning.
drtdvl
Anyone feel like bringing a bonnet from Hamilton to the race so i can put it into Max's van to bring to Auckland?
Archetype
Yep, that's exactly what I feel like doing. Where is it?
drtdvl
Looks like possibility for rain in the morning with overcasts predicted all day... XSSPEED's lending me some decent rubber for the event so that should help... Just need to lower the rear of the car a little and give it a wash... everyone else all set for this? M_C
Forecast = maybe light rain = me carefull driving! Looks like I might need the wipers, heater and demist fan I have not finished installing yet.
xsspeed
Rain x and a towel
Archetype
I suppose I shouldn't complain about the rain since it's winter, but potentially 3 out of 3 events affected by rain so far is pretty gay. What are worn semis like to drive on a wet road? Much better than the ice skating rink at Hampton Downs, but still pretty dicey, I'd imagine? Truenotch
They're shit in the wet and I'd suspect that Mr Scrutineer won't be too happy with mostly worn semi's even in the dry. How bad are yours?
drtdvl
My dunlop semi's have about 2-3mm of tread and they have been fine when damp / light rain... If it's really going to be wet i've typically run my road tyres with the same level of tread. It's a chip seal road so it's fairly coarse. Biggest issue with semi's is getting heat into them as the run is very short compared to the track stuff. I've never had any issues with tread levels with my semi's even when they where down to 1mmish of tread.
xsspeed
XSSPEED's lending me some decent rubberYeah but what are you gunna do about tyres? puhuhuhu
