dylann
Being in a VL, it has a couple of issues stopping it getting to the wof station under its own power Sometimes it just cranks and cranks with no fire, When it does fire up it does so straight away If you let it idle for more than 5-10 seconds it starts spluttering and sometimes drops a cylinder or 2 Abrupt throttle input is met by stalling/almost, but if you do it slowly it will rev happily. If you put it under load (moving it) it will stall unless you neutral drop it into gear. It's in an auto if that makes any difference Any ideas of things to try out? Have cleaned the plugs and contact points, and put new fuel in. Trying not to replace parts at the moment but will if i have to Thanks in advance
kseries.rookie
Mmm bizzare. You're on the right path with just cleaning/checking parts. Could be unrelated but check the AFM. If you know someone near by with a 30e, grab theirs and see if it helps. Sounds fuel/air related. Could be automatic choke set up? I could be wrong but just my 2c
KKtrips
Sounds like low fuel pressure - I would check that if you can and see how it fluctuates in relation to the symptoms you describe.
AllTorque
Sometimes on VLs the bottom corner of the windscreen leaks water onto the ecu. Might be worth checking that the ecu isn't wet or rusty. You'll find it behind the passenger left kick panel.
RUNAMUCK
Green plugs. Hit all the plugs with soldering flux to rinse away all the bad connections.
dylann
just checked the ecu and it seems to be fine, will do some checks re the fuel etc when i can, have been putting it off as i dont have the tools for it at the moment smells rich also, but it does have no exhaust past the passengers seat .. Shakotom
This might help... Check if there is any fault codes present in the ecu. Might point you in the right direction...
Rookie
This is almost certainly a leak up stream of the AFM. VL's have a pus corrigated inlet pipe that cracks when it becomes old and brittle, check that.
bigfoot
mate used to have problems with the cam angle sensor on his old vl(common fault)
Mattt
Sounds like cam or crank sensor.
