They are 185s on a 5.5 rim I think. Yea I figured as much, I seemed to have success not breaking the bead and then fitting them. I don't think the tyre shine was helping hahaha. I was just after opinons on what works/doesn't.

We did when I first put them on, but 3 out of the 4 came loose. Then I went back and we did it again and then 2 more came loose, I fixed one just by letting down the tyre and pushing it back in, but have been too lazy to do the other one.

So bascally there is no proven method to make them work other than to carefully line them up and don't use bead lube?

no point in glue. they say to cut the inner 1/4" off if you're not going right under the bead. did mine like that and they were fine, till they realised they were flappers and the outer edge of the rim cut them off. think my tyre pressure wasn't the best.

- unpack flappers

- check and clean flappers

- deflate tyre

- throw flappers away

- reinflate tyre

  1. Let all the air out the tyre
  2. Loosen the tyre off the bead by jumping up and down on the side wall
  3. Push the flapper in between the sidewall and the rim
  4. Jump and beat on it till it looks seated nicely
  5. Inflate tyre
  6. See where it has unseated
  7. Deflate tyre jump and beat some more
  8. Inflate tyre
  9. Rinse and repeat till its all good

Have fun

Sorry to dig this up but I thought its worth closing the topic.

So if you have flappers you need to do this:

Basically if you don't spend the time to fit them properly then they will fall off, it comes down to your level of commitment.

If you don't do this then you will fail.

And if you fit flappers, your wheels/tyres will be unbalanced so today I put 160 grams of bb pellets in each tyre and it works great.

I put one of these in each tyre.
