Willdat?s Volvo 850 T5-ARRRRRRRGH

A mate of mine sold this a couple of weeks ago, so its interesting why its been sold again so quickly.

Watch out for the LHS front hub nut loosening off.

He also had all sorts of issues with the ABS and TRACS system, I'm not convinced that a wheel sensor would cause the issue.

Awesome, I have had two of these, a T5-R manual and a T5 auto, auto was way nicer IMO and faster..

Bulletproof motors and comfy as fuck interiors, so jealous on the price! Will be watching 850's with interest again

I had mine cheap as piggyback chipped and wound up boost, on last ever drive up to auck saw it nearly off the clock. 285 speedo 8)

Watch the rear suspension and check for damage, passive rear steer bends up easy if curbed or crashed and nearly impossible to put right ( reason for selling yellow R )

Solder up all fuse box connections and ABS control unit pins usually fixes the flashing light issue

On further investigation the "260hp" is the least of the sellers description I'm concerned about! Hoping that it all pans out when I pick it up tomorrow...

This sounds interesting

"Solder up all fuse box connections and ABS control unit pins usually fixes the flashing light issue"

but hard to imagine without an engine bay in front of me is there a good workshop manual that I should keep an eye out for? Or just come to OS crying every time I need to check the oil level...?

There is that fella just out of nelson on way to blenheim who specialises in swede cars- mainly saabs. He'll be a good one to get advice/parts/help from.

He is on the right not far before the gentle annie passing lane.

An old workmate in blighty bought an ex- police T5. drank like a fish but maybe he drove it that way. Also ate front tyres as you should expect.

Ah Eurolux, knew that they specialised in Saabs (I have a bit of a Swedish crush...), didn't know about the Volvos, will keep 'em in mind!

I too lust after a wagon...I see this as a gateway drug. First Euro, + first turbo...all downhill from here!

My Corolla BZ Touring ate 4 Goodyear NCT 5 in 10,000km when I used to head Nelson-Queenstown-Nelson each weekend so I know a thing or two about tyre chewers. My cornering speeds have slowed down somewhat with wahine and tamariki in tow, if I can average 11L/100km I'll be stoked. Just need to use it for road trips...

I've ordered Vadis (the Volvo factory workshop manual from the UK) so hoping I can fix the few issues that have been brought to my attention (thanks heaps rxsumo) and keep it going as long as possible.

Here it is just fresh at home, everyone seems to love it so far, it's a pretty cool looking machine, my brother (S15 with RB26) thinks it's wonderful. Has a nice torquey surge, well suited to auto IMO.

But the million dollar question really is...is it OS build thread worthy?

Oh yeah, in no way is it 'oldschool'! The most featured specced car I've ever driven, let alone owned. New testing station wof today...total fail = 1 new tyre, with notes on oil leak and a worn rear engine mount, all of which I'd seen coming. 2 new tyres weren't even too expensive $298 fitted for Kumhos.

Wife wonders why I'm not over the moon, I guess it still seems like there must be a catch aside from the prodigious thirst!

200km completed so far and nothing has actually fallen off, long may it continue, going to be used as a wedding car in a couple of weeks. Will start an other projects thread once it's actually clean...and I figure out my plans for what's next...

do those ones still rock toyota auto boxs?

They run an Aisan Warner automatic transmission which is the maker Toyota (and Mitsubishi) happen to use. No doubt there will be interchangeable parts, but the transmission certainly wouldn't have been used in a Toyota.
