Have weighed up the option of the sierra gears boxes. But I dont want to put a cert plate on the car. And with the 3.5 diff its not relly needed.( on the road anyway) And have been asking a few questions about a clutch. And for street use just a heavy duty clutch should be fine. Good news is I get it back tomorrow. Cant wait have heaps to get done. Going to pick up the LSD on saturday I hope it can be repaired.

I'm losing power to the solinid just doesnt seem to be getting a signal only 0.3 volts so the starter wont engange. We did hot wire it and got it cracking over but there are still some small problems to get though the fuel doesn't seem to be flowing the way it should for 4 x 40mm carbs I would expect to be able to smell the gas but we couldnt. The fuel pump is working . So I will call my local garage tomorrow and hope I can make some progress. They are very helpfull and have been helping with the project all the way though.

I sure its to do with the Alarm.

Awsome work mate, escorts looking great!

I find this real interesting as I have a "77 Mk2 Sport. Just got a few questions, with all that work getting your paint looking so good. What did you use? . I'm currently getting all the rust removed from my escort and considering getting a full re-spray but looking at your progress i might just put some labor into it.

I''m also going to get a full exhaust system put in down here in Palmy at PitStop, would be cool to get an idea of how much it''ll cost.

Also that sound-proffing insulation is a great idea, where did you purchase that from? Was it very effective?

Keep it up

Thanks brendon

Hey Pete,

I'm trying to work in the track day. But its work in progress at this stage. Your car with the bigger bore would more than likely leave me for dead. Thanks for the help offer I have managed to get it to my mates work shop today so it should be running tomorrow I hope. But I'm sure there are still more issues to come.

Did you get a side dissy cap for yours? Or how do you keep the leads out of the way?

Hey Brendon,

Thanks but we will wait and see it needs it first warrant in a couple of weeks so I live in hope all is good.

The paint was very hard work I have put in over 60 hours all up on this or more and am still not happy with it. I used a few things Mr buff cutting compound from super cheap but be care full with this you can rub though paint layers and I only used this by hand. Then Meguiars paint cleaner. And a clay bar as well. and then I have Meguiars NXT tech wax 2.0.

I only ever worked off small sections at a time and could spend hours getting it to the finish I wanted. You can tell pretty fast if you can get something out of the paint or it's dead. I also got leant a buffer from a paint shop and spent 8 hours on a buffer to help take the worst off. Make sure that you mask off any vents and rubber bits as not to destroy them.

Exhaust has had a flange put at the base of the headers and 2 1/4 pipe right though with two mufflers. Muffler part numbers are RD41413 & PS1182 any way all up cost $452 not to bad but I had to shop around the same company different suburb was $200 more made a big difference to how the car went. I wouldnt go any bigger than 2 1/4 inch. Plus you get a 5 year guarantee.

Sound proofing is like night and day compared to the old stuff very quite inside the car now it has a few features that the old schools stuff doesn't.It doesn't retain water, and has a sticky back so easy to fit you can also get it in 5mm I got it form Forman building systems. I used 10mm It's called Formshield . $ 34 per meter plus gst. 3 meters will do the whole inside of a coupe. just get 2 meters if you don't want to do the fire wall.

Where are you based? Have you started a thread for your car???

A mate had a similar problem with his headers coming loose and cracking at the top. I'm pretty sure he took them somewhere and got them heated up (while on the car) with a torch of some kind, and that must have released some pressure off where they were breaking. I'm sure someone else will have more/better info on the process.

Got some better studs so that should fix the problem or I will turn up to the nationals in a tractor lol. Also picked up a one piece drive shaft. Not sure about the 3.5 diff dont think that will make it back in to the car which is a shame . But the carbs might??? get on the car. So if they do I'm looking forward to seeing how it will go.

Put a one piece drive shaft in but thats not the problem. The diff that is in there is nothing short of rooted. And I have fat chance of getting fixed tomorrow seen my car has spent the last 3 weeks on and off in the workshop and it's still not done.Starting to doubt it will make it???
