Simon
Photoshop looks great man. If it turns out like that it will be nice.
DangerousPerson
Planning on making a few lips from the mold or wanting it to be one off? Looks choice and I can imagine a few others wanting in on it. Concept looks good although the tints might get you a bit of hassling.
Brennan
Cheers Guys, yes planning on selling a few lips to help fund the project. and on those tints, maybe not quite that dark aye
DangerousPerson
In that case, after seeing what it looks like on, I may be very interested for one in Feb as I'll most likely be driving though Palmy...Will watch this space.
spanners
Just a suggestion - dont bother with a lux diff. Get an f series from something else, the weight saving will be worthwhile. My hilux diff is the heaviest fucking thing i have ever come across and the LSD heads available are shit as unless you wanna mod a IRS one from a supra etc.. F series can fit an altezza torsen diff head which is coooooool. I like the pic - hope it turns out summin like that! Make sure you keep standard ecu and plenum etc - it will save you a world of hassle/money, trust me!
Simon
+1 re Hilux diff. I'm going to ditch mine in favor of an F series I think. They really are overkill.
AndyGal
Cool concept mate! Have you been following nothingsfree build? His is similar in many ways so will have lots of info you could use.
Truenotch
Welcome to Oldschool man! I like this project for obvious reasons. Let me know if there's anything you need to know about doing the beams conversion.... Or if you need any parts. Also agree with these two re: hilux diff. F series (or even T series/AE86) will be big enough and a lighter diff will make a big difference to handling.
Brennan
thanks guys will definitely look into a smaller diff, let me know if anyone has anything around manawatu that they want to get rid off. And yes did read through nothingsfree build. allot of very useful info there!
Brennan
Was thinking today, as usual. And what is your guys opinion on something like a altezza or r34 non turbo IRS diff, with shortened arms and drive shafts for the ke70? would not be hard to mount it. And shouldn't be too heavy?
Simon
That's a really good idea. Altezza over r34. Nah wouldn't be that hard to fit, should pop in there with a couple of custom mounts.
BlownCorona
the altezza diffs are a really nice unit +
Truenotch
Ask bubblegoose and Sheepers about doing IRS conversions. Only thing I'd be worried about is having the work up to spec for a cert. Keeping with the 4-link is much easier and you can make them work really well. Have a look at nothingsfree's DX for ideas on how to get the geometry right without losing the back seat. Brennan
the work shouldnt be a problem, dads a hot rod builder, and ive bagged a 54 chevy to scrape frame so suspension isnt anything to new. only said r34 as i have one sitting there, but thats good to hear about the altezza irs as pretty keen on that. Cheers guys KEEN TO GET SOME CAMBER ON THE BACK!
Truenotch
You could also look at MX5 rear suspension as it will probably be the closest fit and is top notch for handling. I've got a car sitting here if you want to look and get ideas.
spanners
Just keep the altezza IRS width, make the front width match with altezza brakes/hubs/suspension etc, and profit greatly
Brennan
haha that would look ridiculous as i would have to have some dish on the end of that. would need some massive flares.
spanners
I love massive flares
