Walker.NZ
Hey guys i just bought this off trademe http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing ... =384239123 I wacked the buy now because it was dirrrt cheap haha, but now im concerned it may be an s series open diffhead? same thing happened to a friend of mine as supposedly they look quite a lot like an lsd. I was wondering if someone would be able to confirm it as a t series lsd before i go ahead and put the cash in the guys account. Cheers Sam
Truenotch
Get them to check the axle size before sending? T series is 10-bolt and S series is 8. That looks like it could be 8 bolt to me. Also looks like a different shape to my T series head.
Raizer
I'm no expert but I don't think thats an LSD since you can see the spider gears.
Walker.NZ
sweet mate thanks very much, have sent the guy an email. it looks like an 8 bolt too me aswell. and Hellraizer that is exactly what i thought upon closer inspection haha i just hit the buy now impulsively :/ Sam
Vintage Grumble
My car had a factory one, and it didnt look like that. The factory LSD's only have two spiders, the one in the pic has 4 shafts, so assume it has 4 spiders. Also its an 8 bolt rather than 10. Truenotch
factory LSD's look like this: Similar bolt pattern around the top, but definitely not the same.
Vintage Grumble
^ Yep, thats the bugger.
Vintage Grumble
Also, dont buy a std one, get a TRD/after market one, the std ones are not overly strong, and once they brake, you cant get the parts to fix them.
Walker.NZ
Bugger! cheers guys, looks like you have confirmed my doubts.. guess i wont be buying it then. Also, dont buy a std one, get a TRD/after market one, the std ones are not overly strong, and once they brake, you cant get the parts to fix them. Yeah man that was the plan i have priced up a few aftermarket ones, but hey even if it actually was a standard lsd, you cant complain at $150! haha Sam
KKtrips
Hope you will pay for the guys trademe success fees at least...
Truenotch
No, don't do that. He's advertised something incorrectly. All you need to do is ring Trademe and say that the deal wasn't completed and tell the truth about the situation. No biggie.
Unclejake
The diff is advertised as a LSD so the TM fees are not the buyer's problem (in this instance).... but K-trips has the right heart \ I reckon I would have thought it was a LSD too. I can't see the spider gears on the TradeMe photos Hellraizer, but I accept that it is likely to be an open diff as you guys are just so cute/metric
Brock-Lee
You can see one of the spiders through that inspection hole. Ps lsds can have spider gears tooo
KKtrips
Oh sorry - I can't see the tard at work - didn't realise it wsa advertised as an LSD. My bad - as you were
Vintage Grumble
The std ones do have spider gears, two of em, and the little shaft they run on is what snaps off:
NicT
Looks like a 4 pinion diff of some sorts. Doesnt look beefy enough to be an LSD, but in saying that it could be a ST165 GT4 rear differential as those are T series too but different again to the AE86. I know corona T series LSDs are different to the AE86 but ive never seen one.
Vintage Grumble
Im pretty sure its not a LSD, from the second pic on the auction, you can tell it has four spider gears, and they seem to take up all the room inside, theres simply no room in there for LSD tomfoolery. Truenotch
I'm pretty sure it isn't T series anyway. If it was F LSD it would almost be worth keeping for a laugh.
Dell'orto
Nah definitely S code.
smokin' joe
Nah definitely S code. 8 bolt, 4 pinion, it ain't no T.
