cute wee gem
Cert check today on the Mark II went pretty well Fit air filter to turbo (so kiddies can't put their fingers in there?) Wheel alignment report, which is my biggest concern if camber is out of spec - will find out next time. Julian thinks it should be ok though. Fit 2nd throttle spring, easy peasy. Front struts too close to rims. So he gave me some Falcon discs out of the rubbish which I can easily machine down and use as a spacer. Then just drill & tap my hubs to suit. The discs are the perfect 5-6mm that we need and has the pcd all ready drilled. Too easy
beachlander
Do you have adjustable camber arms in the rear?
Goat
Looking good tom! How was Julian to deal with?
cute wee gem
Thanks Joe! Julian is a GC to deal with, plus he has an LS1 powered Camaro No camber arms, beachlander. Might have to make some/buy some if it fails w/alignment
Spencer
Just caught up on your thread dude, Great work. Love the wheel choice and sweet exhaust, keep it up.
Goat
Straight pipe was all good for cert? Not too loud? Wheel fitment is boss!
cute wee gem
Cheers Spence Straight pipe was all good, he didn't even mention it. He's a genuine car nut (has photos framed in his home garage of himself doing burnouts in the aforementioned Camaro)
beachlander
Just thinking about how the camber laws are now, where you need +/- 0.5 degrees is it? from factory. Finding arms for these is a pain tho/expensive
cute wee gem
Yeah that sounds about right. You're right though, they are damn expensive so hopefully I can make something myself if I have to.
crustywhip
I used Julian for my cert on your old gx71. I never met him as asked Kayne (who's doing the rust work on my mx31) to do it as he deals with him. if you need a wheel alignment sheet with in the specs mag and turbo, lower hutt are really good to deal with and friends of mine. cute wee gem
Oh true! I didn't realize the old gx ever got certed. I'll have to ask if he remembers it haha. Does Kayne work in the Wairarapa?
crustywhip
Yeah ive covered some kms in it now. Kayne is based just out of carterton and does very nice work. He's getting really busy and always has something new when I visit.
Goat
Love the quality of your build tom. Super sweet. Any issues with the modified crossmembers/diff mounts etc? Also, Thread spam, But who is this Kayne fellow? Does he do panel work only, or does he do mechanical stuff too. Am almost keen to get someone to take my Z for cert with Julian, and remedy any things that come out of the cert... As i can't find the time during the week. Plus I'm in wellington and car is in Masterton.
cute wee gem
No worries at all with the diff/subframe mods. Let me know if you need me to do anything, Joe. I work just around the corner from Julian and the company I work for deals with him every day as I'm now in the "modified van" game lol

Popular Post cute wee gem
Passed cert today! Needs more low, bigger turbo, decent ecu, paint etc and then I'll be happy. Cert is a big milestone though

thegreatestben
Love this car soooo much Happy to see it being looked after. The state I bought it was in the 2nd time I owned it was not good!
cute wee gem
Yeah he was all good, he didn't even mention lowness, and even has a little guard rub on big bumps lol - will roll them when I paint it It's not actually that low at the moment, plus you get 5% to play with so can go about 15mm lower I guess and still be covered by cert. Front wastegate hangs too low atm to go much lower but I'm gonna ditch that turbo/WG setup later anyway. I think he might have been extra nice about the camber as well. He said he couldn't find the spec for the rear camber and "it's only just over 2 degrees so i put it through anyway" - what a GC
