wickmyster
Think I am convinced on the 2JZ...Think a sc-14 super charger with the electronic clutch will fix my power needs
UTERUS
You trollin? Just bolt some turbos on if you want more power.
wickmyster
this thread is kerazy.. I may as well ask whats the most economical engine for my 55 chev.. LMAO, that would be the last of the pushrod holden sixes, I am helping put on into a 38 chev atm, we just pulled out a 55 motor (After just fitting a custom oil filter as they dont have one standard, but the hole it there for them) I looks just like the chev six in the engine bay and it blts up the the 38s gear box!!! Does 30MPG with my falcon diff in it is now 5 stud (front took some modding)...so the mag options are endless. ANY WAYS If i can get 35mpg out of a supra again, i will be stoked!!!!!!!!! wickmyster
You trollin?Just bolt some turbos on if you want more power. I dont want 250-300 hp all the time, just for the occasional track day, I have helped set up a supercharger from a estima before on a vl and it worked mean, just got a different a front pulley a ran a dedicated belt, use no more gas... and only slighty more when it was boosting. wickmyster
http://www.autofiles.org Not going V8 LOL vvti 2JZ-GE is the one for me or vvti 1JZ single turbo if i cant track down a 2JZ
fulloc
I seriously reckon 1g-fe would be cheaper, esp if you want to stick on a charger. thay have enough power for road tripping etc. I know JZ is super cool and all that but if you want economy you cant go past -FE. Is it really that hard to wire a 1JZFSE? they run the same style of 24v lazy cam setup as a 1gfe or for that matter a 4afe/3sfe. my 2c

I think there is a bit extra cause of the direct injection. Yeah, I have looked on the Beams 1g-fe ans supercharged would prob make 200+hp But vvti JZ are pretty good on gas, and good for towing FSE engines are almost impossible to get hold of but would be my number one choice if i could find/afford one! wickmyster
How hard will it be to get a 05 dual vvti 2jz-ge running in my mk3 supra?...can i use the standard ecu? or will i need a mega dollar link? Or can I get all the dash interior loom n guages and use them to?
fulloc
I should think with dash/ gauges it would be easy enough? Correct me if im wrong.
Spencer
If you know how shit works reasonably well and you get everything it wont be impossible, but I doubt you will find any/much info to help you wire it up. 1gfe is a horrible choice unless its the altezza one, and then we are back around to the wiring issue. Stick with older stuff unless you want to man up and spend 2k on a link or get into a MS3 You wont get the direct injection engine going without allot of fucking around
wickmyster
Could I run standard 2JZ-GE injection on a daul VVTI long block?
KKtrips
I am confused - what exactly are you building - a 1300GT Escort, an XA Falcon Coupe with an XR6 motor in it or a Supra with a 2JZ?
Spencer
Could I run standard 2JZ-GE injection on a daul VVTI long block? What with the VVti just sitting at base timing? would run worse than a older 2jz on its own ECU. Either buy a link and a newer VVTi 2JZ, a complete VVti JZA80 etc 2JZ or an older one. Or go learn about modern ECU's, people have used the BEAMs ECU with the key and cluster, so it can be done but you will be lucky to find any wiring diagrams on the 2JZ. I'd say if you asked a auto sparky to do it he either wouldn't know, or charge you about as much as a link is worth
glen
make it a electric car, run small block chevy starter motors, like 30 or 40 of them
wickmyster
I am confused - what exactly are you building - a 1300GT Escort, an XA Falcon Coupe with an XR6 motor in it or a Supra with a 2JZ? All of the above, plus I was doing a 2L escort Just about finished 1300 ( was getting 1300GT info for building up 1600 high compression (bits for sale om TM) escort...gave up on the pushrod and dropped in a 1600 OHC cause every OHV block I looked at was pitted etc... XA coupe long term dream car project.... Sold some of the 2L escort stuff http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motor ... 757914.htm and bought a Mk3 widebody aerotop supra ;D drifties on (Need a tow wagon) so start off with economical engine and make it a little gruntier. I have had 4 mk3 supras, this is number 5....
wickmyster
Yeah, just I have seen heaps of vvti 1JZs on you tube, but gues the dual vvti a different thing all together do deal with (and i have 1st option on a 05 (LEXUS/Altezza) dual vvti 2JZ-GE complete, loom to gauges for just over $1500 delivered to my door) ...bugger it would be such a mission to set up
Spencer
Just buy a link then you can have the engine you want, plus who wants a fucking butchered altezza cluster in a supra?
wickmyster
Ah ill go N/A 1JZ, pull out the air con and slap in a sc16( I can do 90% of the engineering myself), with a on/off switch and run it off the air con belt LOL Switchable performance. Sound good? Are the single VVTIs a prick to wire up?
Spencer
nope pretty sweet to wire. I'm against the charger idea but meh what ever floats your boat! probably get better economy from a VVTi 1JZ-GTE and more go
wickmyster
Yeah, maybe, but with the electric clutch, it is just a N/A 1JZ as the pulley is spinning freely. (I just like it cause it mad max style as I have an XA coupe too) Plus with it not being decompressed it will have good low down power and at 100ks less need to change down a gear. Have considered a single turbo vvti 1JZ, they are not overly priced aswell.
