drtdvl
Photos: Basic history: It started life as a white 1.6 gti and was used as a press-car (i've got the original NZ Car mag where it was on the cover being thrown around a gravel quarry.) In 2002 the pervious owner - Mark Herbert -built the car for the 2002 Dunlop NZ Targa, and unfortunately didn't finish the race due to an accident. Mark repaired the car and then it's sat in his workshop waiting for the finishing touches to be done since then. In 2008 went to see Mark to price up a rollcage for the 306, after 30 min of looking at the rollcage in the 205 to show me was he would do - i was sold - nice rollcage it was going to be... Mark then as i was walking out the door asked if i would like to buy the 205. I took 1 day for me to confirm that i could purchase the car - re: The GF approving that i spent the money on buying the car instead of a trip to the states, which as you can tell by reading this it was... The car will be used for tarmac events until i can afford the undercar protection and gravel suspension - so i'm figuring a few years off... BlownCorona
may i ask why its making all its power on redline?
CaMpylobacter
because xu9j4 engines are weird. can't wait for my piece to be finally going. need cage and also to do skids with you
Truenotch
Mi16 should rev more than 7500 shouldn't it?
drtdvl
may i ask why its making all its power on redline? larger exhaust, shortened intake manifold, and unknown engine work would be my assumptions but ya no idea? We extended the rev limit from 7200 to 7500 and it's just starting to flatten off now. Red = pre-chip, blue = post chip... runs done back to back ignore the rpm's they didn't match up for some reason.
Truenotch
Hah, he needs to click the dyno sheet so it goes to 7500... Dyno dynamics is lol like that (you could make it look like the car is making 50hp at 9krpm and 128hp at 12 if you wanted to.
drtdvl
haha kool... it's a lot lower reading than torque performance where it was doing 138hp @ wheels pre chip
westy
Ha, it's Gavin, he gives no fuck for the numbers ya pull but is a top notch tuner. Top car Heath, paint it Renault yellow.
Truenotch
My tuner is much the same. Lucky I'm no dyno queen.

drtdvl
Installed the new Carbone Lorraine RC6 pads are FRICKEN AMAZING!... 100% Sintered metal pad, No bedding in required, and work amazingly well when cold. Pedal is now rock hard and you need to be measured on the brake pedal now as they bite like anything... You can modulate the braking very nicely which is fantastic... lots of feel in the pedal. Would highly recommend the pads to anyone looking for a rally/race pad. Very much hello head have you met mister windscreen affair.
drtdvl
Run 1 from a Bent Sprint i did on Sunday. This was the slowest run of mine for obvious reasons. The quickest was 5 seconds faster. (can be viewed in hd) Runs 2 & 3 i had camera issues.
drtdvl
So finally after 1 yr of waiting the torsion bars finally showed up! This week gave them a good cleaning and painted them to stop them rusting. A friend and I fitted them to the car today and it's made a very nice difference! Worked out that the 19mm bars had an effective spring rate of 92lbs and the new 22mm bars have a rate of 168lbs... or roughly 82% stiffer. or something like that as i can't remember the exact numbers in my head. We took 5mm out of the shock bolt distance to drop the ride height, and with the increased strength of the torsion bars it's raised the car about 15mm
Snoozin
Heard there's a trackday on Saturday mate. Test the torsion bars out?
