The more surface/contact area you use the easier it will be on the rope. Alternately. Make the rope go round the cam/stopping device. Unclejake Posted January 31, 2011 Author Share Posted January 31, 2011 It would be nice to have a bigger surface area but I couldn't find any materials quickly. If this brake acts agressively and quickly then the rope wear will be confined to short distances. In theory the brake will never get used on a moving sled. It needs to hold the sled static at the surface and also engage if the diver gets chicken and jumps off the sled before he hits the bottom of the rope.
