Guest Scheme
Hey guys, what do you consider the best liable options when it comes to DIY paint stripping, preferably down to bare metal. Sand paper is the obvious choice, which I have done a panel with, but it takes one hell of a long time. I tried the heatgun on a bit, which actually rips it off pretty fast, but was wondering if it would damage the metal? The other option would be to buy some sort of liquid paint stripper? You thoughts appreciated.
Guest Scheme
I spose the best way would be electric sanders, heh.

davidian
DIY? just rock it with a sander using 80 or soumething roughish after youre done wet sand it by hand. can get bare metal if you go hard, but probably dont need to unless its a shocker

RT
they blast your car with chopped up bits of walnut.. it's supposed to be much softer than bead blasting or sand blasting as the walnut grains disintergrate on impact

v3k
use a paint stripping disk for a grinder. Or a flexi sanding pad for a grinder. Good as gold at tearing paint off
Guest Scheme
i tried a heatgun, and it actually peals it off pretty fast, is there only cons to using a heatgun?
Rusted
Not sure about the heat gun, have to many layers of paint on my datto. 3M paint stripper pads for drill or grinder, Makes life REAL easy. cost is about $16per pad or $22 for the twin pad. mutiny
dont use a heat gun! even using a orbital sander in the same spot for to long can heat it up enough to warp the metal
