Leebo3
What did all the chroming cost?
Gaz
Yuh as above if we may know. Looking at some chroming to same extend. Did you clean it yourself first? Are the manifolds chrom,e inside also?
Josh
Actual chroming cost $634.00. I didnt do anything to them, just gave them to them as they were. Had to have the surfaces on the manifolds planned flat ($200) and alternator pulled apart which was another $40 but yea the chroming part wasnt to bad I thought. I havent got them in my possesion yet as a mate has them in timaru but il ask if they are chromed on the inside, pretty certain thats a no though. Theres pitting on the top of the plenum to :S and the headers have quite a few cloudy parts where they couldnt get to, to chrome properly
Gaz
shit thats a hefty amount. I dont think it would be good chromed on the inside. Apparently HPC chroming is a bit cheaper.
lowlancer
Fuck that. The plenum will be pretty prominent yeah? PAying that sorta moolah, expect a decent job
Josh
^^ yea the top of the plenum is prolly the most seen bit almost, i havent seen it with my own eyes only pictures so fingers crossed its fuck all pitting etc
Snoozin
Should look bling as mate! Can't wait to see her all back together, best take it out to Ruapuna at the 4nR SI Champs drags too eh Personally I would have had it HPC'd or Procoated instead of chromed, but each to their own, the mani should look pretty sweet once it gets hot and discolours a bit, love the "blued" look it should get. Josh
Yea i tried to hunt down HPC coating down these ways but couldnt find anyhting. Meh. other parts that came with motor are HPC'd anyway. Wont be ready for s.i drags Rich i doubt haha
crazy_rich
good to hear you got them machined, I was kinda worried u wouldnt, they had like 5mm twist in them... I reckon they came out good by the looks of the photo, and considering the plenum is alloy, must have been copper coated first or something.
