Jamies RX7.. aka the money gobbler discussion

You don't have to use j109s.. green bros used to sell a direct replacement igniter (don't know if they still do) that fits and does the same job but brand new. I used them they were fine. -

Nice car. They say it's best to buy the best example you can afford; I doubt you'll ever regret 'paying too much' : ) -
Nice car, build thread here:

Car looks so mint I'd of not thought there'd be repairs like that hiding. -
Sounds good, real good.

The Tergo brand from Mitre 10 is good.. just paint it on and work it until the rust is gone. I use a stiff paint brush. Don't let it dry as it forms a white powder that can't be removed without sanding. I use it at about 20-25% with water like that. If you're soaking a part in a bucket say, you can dilute much more. I would do your roof in sections at a time.

Oh woops, sorry.

Haha, bro it's an ea - check the front badge location and c pillar vents.

I said could be driveshaft too short wobbling on the gb output shaft on the first page.
-
That doesn't seem like much out to me. Edit: On second thought maybe it is.. ?

Uncaptive springs aren't legal for wof, so i'd go ahead and get that fixed with some 'V8 Falcon coils' before you take it for a wof.

Make sure the driveshaft is long enough and not wiggling on the end of the gb output shaft.
-
I had a s1 rx7 one lengthened (new tube/balance) 50mm for my rx2.. the driveshaft place on sunnybrae/porana did it for circa 300$. No problems.

Use NGK plugs with R on them?
-
Repco sells packs of rubber plugs.

I had a quick look at that listing the blackish/blue 13bpp sedan? IIRC the last 6 digits of the stc stamp matched the last 6 digits of the cert tag vin number, and i presume the car had a vin tag attached also.. i can't see the problem here. Call it what you want; 808 body and all tags match, all legal.

You mentioning wind noise makes me think of my rx2 and how i can drive along with the window down and there's no wind buffeting on me while i'm driving.. i think because of the angle of the windscreen.. anyway it's extremely nice on a warm sunny day driving with the window down in the country, nearly as good as motorcycle. -

How long did the engine sit for? -
Exactly, that's how it cleans.. and the real beauty is it doesn't affect the paint, so basically as close as back to brand new as you can get.
-
I did the same thing with a big plastic wheelbarrow and a phosphoric acid and water solution, and a lot of time and scrubbing. It got the wheel as clean as can be. And left the paint intact.

It's still pricey tho, we bought 35kg of food grade at 85% which was still expensive (can't remember exactly how much). For a small job you're best to just buy Tergo rust killer at mitre 10 mega.
