  1. *I think you can have a 74/75 carrier machined to take the 4 spider bits out of a 78* I don't know to be honest. But from fucking about with diff swaps I'd say, Can you get a Quaife LSD for the Cortina/Atlas diff? Is the width close to a Hilux? What are the chances of finding a 9" that someone has shortened for a Cortina back in the day? In my experience the cheapest option often ends up more expensive.
  2. CTS in Waterloo road have a big range of them. I have brought smaller ones from Para Rubber in Blenheim road.
  3. It's quiet. Quieter than the short tractor muffler it usually has.
  4. Ii haven't done anything to this. Today I did some things with it today. Things like pushing piles of AP65 about and making a nice parking space behind the garage. Mint!
  5. Sweet. Is it easy enough to put cart wheels on a quad axle?
  6. What axle do you use? I have been toying with the idea of building one "for my kids"
  7. Hi Alex. I see you have three imps, but no A15s and no side drafts? I feel that is the pressing question here.
  8. This. Is it getting final drive repairs or is it being wrecked?
  9. https://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-accessories/mazda/gear-boxes/auction-1521672349.htm?rsqid=399418eb156b4ca59f90e9bf080b1e87 Bang, done. Or MX5 BP. Has a nice gearbox already. What about a 12a turbo?
  10. Hang in there and find a 2.3 from a Mazda 6. They went hard 4 wat they were. I remember them having a conventional flywheel too.
  11. Thread dredge, this thing still goes hard for what it is. I've wanted an elevator/conveyor to work in with this to reduce all the throwing of wood. People often use modified hay elevators but they're pretty hard to find and cost a bit. Until I found this little gem when I was out looking for old bottles. Best part, it was free. It's quite the engineering masterpiece. Plans are. *Make it work. *Make it tow able with a car or ute. So how can you help? I need the back axle out of a small Japanese car to use as a ready made axle for this. It needs wheels and it needs to be cheep. I also need to find a decent vertical shaft motor, what have you got? Thanks OS pests.
  12. Go to a tractor spares place you can pick up a tractor muffler and tail pipe for not much. A rain cap is what goes on top. I really like your tractor tbh.
  13. Great work!
  14. Vaguely related personal sharn. We fitted 4 gearboxes to the same Escort on four consecutive Sundays. On the fifth Sunday we fitted a Capri gearbox. The next Saturday night the car got barrel rolled. Rotor arms with a spring and weight used to be available that would earth the HT side at a pre set RPM. I was working in a NZ new petrol Patrol today, it had one factory. You could modify one to fit your Escort distributor?
  15. Could you do the traditional 308 commodore thing and add a bug catcher, flower pot, or even a stack of two inch thick air cleaner elements? I'd like that.
  16. Who knew all your previous Google searches would be relevant in another context? I think the big issue here is why no bug catcher?
  17. Can you turn up to cert someones car on this please Clint. Then can you post an account of their reactions for my amusement?
  18. From your Lucas alternator?
  19. Look at the old fellas face, %100 pining!
  20. Buy this instead, it's smaller and therefore much more practical for your 600m section. http://www.trademe.co.nz/business-farming-industry/farming-forestry/tractors/up-to-50-hp/auction-1344190107.htm @cletus and @smokin' joe should look into it too.
  21. I'd say 1750kg or so. Mine is about 2000kg but the blade etc is very heavy.
