  1. That looks awesome, the new rims suit the colour of the car!
  2. Been doing lots of mocking up There is alot going on back here when you think about it, fenders need to fit right, the valance needs to fit right, the bumper mount need to fit the inner fenders right and be in the right place so the bumper irons go thru the fenders in the right place, aaarrrrrrgghhhhh! Anyway! I harvested these from the rusty baja I chopped up bought one of these at supercheap for $14 drilled the valance and the inner fenders to match the fender holes welded the little suckers on also spent a couple hours with the grinder and wire wheel getting ready to weld the bumper mounts and engine tray things back on soon this thing helps getting into the corners of the engine bay as cheap insurance I stuck a bit of weld on the inside of the bumper mount nuts, then painted with super etch the rest with the weld thru stuff nice to be putting things back on the painful thing is having to drill heaps of holes in my lovely handmade panels so I can plug weld the mounts back on, oh well.
  3. Cheers boys, it's like anything though, practice, practice... Prolly looks better in the pics than real life, it's not 100% perfect, a bit of bog will be needed, still better than half a kg of lead in the bottom of the engine lid, always wondered why the spring wasn't strong enough to keep the lid open.

  5. So in the above pic you can see the start of the repair panel I thought I'd have a crack at making This is actually the second attempt to make this piece, the first one I just kind of free styled it, which is why it failed, I had to take a much more measured approach. so after much fuckingabout.... it might actually be getting close. And the newest addition to my high tech arsenal of metal working tools, behold! I made this out of a old post so i could make a start on the outside of the lid, chop chop choppity chop check out the rust holes! fitting up the patch tacked up didn't notice that the lids shape had relaxed after I'd cut a hole in it, about 5mm's of wonk nailed the second one better the under side, many little cuts to get the metal to fold under. the outside all ground down and primed with the lip all smoothed out not bad!
  6. Been meaning to update this for age's, not that I've done heaps, just keep chipping away. everything still seems to fit Started on the engine lid and found it's full of lead! oldschool right there! removed the inner panel 50 years of crud found some factory paint this is lead also, and crud fixed up the engine bay side trays and the engine bay corners all that was left after removing the lead and rust
  7. THIS is awsome. fucking well done that man! love the beer/40oz holder.
  8. choice car bro, looks the shit all layed out on it ass, you do some cool stuff. Look after that hand!
  9. Looks so right with the 5's and thin whitewalls, good job!
  10. Sweet wagon, can't believe a car that size came with drum brakes! good upgrade.
  11. 195-65 or 205-65 15R back 145-65 15R front, get low.
  12. great work with the shrinker/stretcher mate, any pics of the process? keep it up!
  13. Choice bike man, that seat looks like it would cut you in half on a big bump! but I guess the leather has some give in it, plus springs.
  14. Just wondering, how would you get one of these to work in a old school bug? Some kind of mechanical converter?
  15. Have a good cruise up the mandel bro, the bug looks great, would love to check it out one day also.
  16. Yo Seedy, stink the bus let you down bro, sounds like you are on to the problems, dont know how much you know about these weird old german cars but, you must service them every 3000miles oil, tappetts, setting points is very important as you now know! I was always hopless at that and managed to melt the rotor and cap once replace condenser too, I ended up junking the stock dizzy and use a 009 with a compufire electic points replacment as my engine isnt stock. Just set and forget, easy. but nothing is as smooth as a well set up stock vw engine, not very fast, but smooth.
  17. put the fucking over riders on! now! looking good bro.
  18. got onto the right side, had to replace more than the other side as the damage went up a bit higher up. chop chop so the replacement had to be bigger i can not tell you how long this took to make, ages, just ages. The indent where the valance overlaps took some thinking and a lot of hammering, pretty pleased with how it turned out. and just when i thought i was getting there, i offered the panel up to the car and it was not bent enough. so i pushed until, crack! back to the welder. as you can see in the first pic, the panel was not long enough by 5-6cm, i did this just to save a bit of metal oh well , the plan was to join it at the bottom then let in a small patch on the side, but as i was trying to fit the replacement, i found i'd cut it too short I spent another night extending the panel to fix my fuck up. at lease I got to practice my welding more. This is the finished thing. then tacked in place and test fitting the fenders etc. inside and welded in spent alot of time smoothing it out as best i could eally hard to get a good photo with the reflections, not perfect but the bumper mount will cover it anyway  I took a photo in primer but it just looked completely flat. I was very happy with this finish, as i was stressing about it a bit with all the angles etc. I been so focused on this panel so much, now it's done I'm not sure what to do next? got to put the engine trays back in I guess then the bumper mounts.
  19. Aw shit! I really what to jump on this bandwagon, I've been eyeing those XS650 bobbers for a while now, I nearly bought a sportster tank off TM the other day and I don't even have a bike or license. Your KZ is turning out sweet bro, tank is looking very nice. I guess you have to cert a bike for mods like this, same as a car?
  20. lose the mags bro, that an't not esky or whatever, there is a difference being lower to the ground and looking low and it's all down to the wheel/tyre choice. awesome car though, hope you get it on the road soon.
