Auckland airport car rental 25-28th Feb
KKtrips replied to NickJ's topic in Upper North Island Region
I got a car from Avis at Christmas for a similar time AK airport to AK airport and it was $283. It was a Toyota Corolla and plenty fine - just take a rag and some brake-kleen to clean off the silicone that they spray on the floormats to make them shine. It makes it super sketchy when driving if your heels are all over the show. -
Man I reckon this thing is awesome - I have a soft spot for Mk3 Zephyrs. Especially boned out on those Coon wheels. Have you ditched the caps yet? LOL Also I hope you don't sell this but if you do then give me first option. I probably won't have money or room or a million other excuses not to buy it at the time but I do so very much dig it.

Well you could always smidge in under the "wagon rules" if you went covered wagon spec... Damn the VolksWAGEN rule rears its ugly head again! -

Lock me in Edward. -
Innovate are meant to do very reliable ones also and are around $350 for a full kit. I've been looking at getting one for myself and this is the one I'm going to get. http://www.nzperformance.co.nz/innovate-motorsports-wideband-o2/mtx-l-wideband-air-/-fuel-ratio-gauge-kit.html

Alternatively there is a bloke on here doing a very similar conversion on an EJ so take a geeze at his thread and snaffle some ideas. He is using an LH Torana front end. It will probably need to go through Technical Approval Committee. It isn't hard and they aren't unreasonable pricks as some people would have you believe. But it takes a bit of effort and you may need to ask CRS for some technical drawings or bring in a front end for them to look at. However the fact it has ADR compliance means it should piss in or it may just be a paperwork and tick the boxes exercise. I presume its bolt in?

Its all about getting the right bore size to pedal ratio. You can run non boosted brakes on anything. A lot of big heavy race cars have no booster because cam overlap minimizes the vacuum signal available.
-
If it is for Brake boosting, is a non boosted brake operation an option? Change the master cylinder bore size (smaller bore required) and adjust the clevis point in the pedal to allow more lineal push of the pushrod and you can delete the requirement for a vacuum servo. May also require more bracing around the master cylinder to counter the increased force imposed on the firewall.
-
Why do you need electric vacuum?
-
That would be rad thanks man. I'll probably go 140 once this bad boy pops its clogs. I'll have to convert that to 2-stroke too cos I hear they go harder.
-
Man I want to build it to be wild like this (Chaly)... LOL

Pe-arce's Mk1 Ford Escort Beams Powered Race Car

Looking sweet . Love your work - it is inspiring and makes me wish I could fabricate something as impressive as this. PS - this top radiator hose looks to be under a fair whack of tension. Perhaps something to look at?- 114 replies

Have you checked all the fuses? Not just in the in-car fuse box but also under the bonnet fusebox? Not knowing what car it is - I am merely assuming it has two fuse boxes. LOL

Awesome - what does she weigh?

When do you pick up motor and when do you want to install it?

As Seedy said, it sounds like clutch adjustment. Google says this is the Rio clutch adjuster but I wouldn't put money on it - cos internet. Wind out the adjuster nut (B') 2 full turns and try again. If no better, wind out two more full turns etc. You need to have about 2-4mm of freeplay between the pivot and fork (A) Pro-tip - you may need to use something to stop the threaded portion of the cable from turning when you wind the adjuster nut out - something like a pair of pliers or loosely clamped vice grips.
