  1. Getting closer to starting it before getting it ready for paint! Latest purchase for the car is an Accuspark Stealth igniion system. Means I will be able to tune the car via laptop, and the ignition curve has been modified to suit the supercharged A-Series
  2. Yeah that RH was a pain to try and track down - if the hole hadn't of already been cut when I bought the car it would've been a lot easier! I've got Monza flip top fuel caps for it, there's a photo in the build thread of them. Funny you should mention twincharging, we were going to try mock it up like that but there's 2 welded studs on the turbo manifold for the fuel injection that wouldn't clear the SC12 manifold
  3. Another update - this was in the March 2016 issue of Mini Magazine (comes out in early February in the UK). Still won't be on the shelves here until about May
  4. Thanks - I'm getting there, slowly lol. Very soon will be one of the most expensive parts of the build - panel and paint. Been having trouble finding someone that won't charge a huge amount to paint it
  5. Photos of the before mentioned speaker board and centre console. Once the console comes back from being modified I'll trim it to match the interior colours and get the hinges etc fitted for the flip down panel With the console closed up And open to reveal the headunit, and a couple of important switches. The area at the back where the switches go needs to be made slightly bigger too so the switches fit in right. Console was designed in a MK4 Mini with full padded dash, MK1s don't have this. We decided to push the console further back so only the bottom part needs lengthening.
  6. Haven't had much time to work on the car lately, mainly due to doing a front end rebuild on Ryan's (AGRORB) Mini. A wee bit has been done, filling in the many holes that had been drilled in it to mount stuff when it was a racecar, also bought a full free flow exhaust system for it through Minibitz. Under seat speaker tray and custom centre console have also arrived (photos soon), unfortunately the console doesn't fit right so will be sent back for a couple of modifications.
  7. Yup I watched that series - quite funny how since Mighty Car Mods supercharged a Mini that I've been told that I'm copying them. I had the supercharger kit bought months before they even had that Mini lol
  8. The original plan was to always be supercharged, and also the turbo setup isn't complete and not suitable for road use. Manifolds would all have to be remade to be able to make it road legal (has a dump pipe off the turbo exiting where the RF inner guard would usually be
  9. Couple more photos My custom parcel tray cover, made by Flat Out Engineering in Balclutha - definitely a talking point of the car! Still possibly one of the hardest parts to find with this build was the RH fuel tank. When I bought the car it already had the hole, but the tank had been lost years ago. I had been getting a LH one converted but was proving to be more than what it was worth to do. The hunt was on to find either a genuine or repro one for a reasonable price, luckily Minibitz had this second hand original one that needs a minor repair done to it which I got for an absolute score. My motor that is in the car now has an interesting back story. The engine has been a bit of an urban legend in Dunedin, purely down to the fact that it was a 180bhp fuel injected turbo 1275. It was raced out at Beachlands Speedway where it dominated the races it was entered into. There is a video on Youtube of it on the dyno "Ewoks Turbo Mini" Coincidentally the motor was built and part owned by the guy who was to be building my motor anyway, so when it became available at a very good price I jumped at the chance to own it. He has told me I should expect to get around 150bhp with the SC12 on it. The photo is from the night I picked it up. Since putting the SC12 gear on, I've run into issues with bonnet clearance. The blower came off a mate's Mini, which was an 1100. The 1275 is slightly taller in the block than the 1100, hence why i would clear. The solution - made up a set of alloy bonnet lift brackets which are adjustable. Haven't metal finished them yet but they work perfectly
  10. That's it - looked everywhere and couldn't find it!

  12. Hey guys, Used to have a build thread for this car, seems to have been lost so I've started a new one up. Bought this car back in 2011 as a bare shell, which at the time was caged and set up for a Weber airbox. I'll get around at some stage to go through my old photos of the build, but at the moment here are a few up to date ones of the car. Hoping to have it complete mid this year. 13. Hey guys, The fourth running of the Pork Pie Charity Run is at Easter next year, this time supporting KidsCan New Zealand, an organisation which supports Kids living in Poverty in New Zealand. These kids are New Zealand’s future. Carisbrook School is supported by KidsCan and they report that the help they receive makes immeasurable differences in the lives and learning of their students. The Pork Pie Charity Run retraces the route taken in the iconic 1981 movie Goodbye Pork Pie, where a Mini is stolen in Kaitaia and embarks on a hair-raising car chase to Invercargill. Team Kelly are participating again next year with three cars entered and on 12 October 2014 we are holding a KidsCan Charity Cruise around Dunedin to raise funds for this very worthy cause. Gather at the DCC carpark next to the Ice Stadium on Victoria Road, at 11.30am for a public show and shine display until 1.30 pm. There will be a sausage sizzle and coffee available. Entry is $10.00 a car and a gold coin donation for every passenger. All money collected goes to Pork Pie Charity Run supporting KidsCan, to enable the continuing work of KidsCan in our communities. A sheet of instructions will be given to the driver and entry collected. The cruise will begin at the carpark and for the next hour or so take in city and suburban streets, the Taieri and finish at the Waterloo Hotel, on Forbury Corner, where refreshments will be available at your cost, and a chance to catch up with friends. A professional motorsport photographer has been enlisted to catch a unique candid shot of each car on the cruise, which will also be available to purchase, via Redline Photography. We look forward to a great turnout and a fantastic time to meet others with similar interests, while raising funds for such an important charity. - Josh aka Mini.Mad
