In the nicest possible way, please leave everything other than the mechanicals stock, i.e. no flares, spoilers, custom badges. And repalce the modgies. Shit this will be lush.

Have you offered up the rx30 brake pedal next to the throttle pedal and clutch pedal in the car and confirmed it needs that kink in it? The brake pedal from the auto will be further across from factory I would think, so may not fit the clutch pedal next to it.

It didn’t take me long to find jokers who have done the swap in stags online, so maybe try get in touch with them to see what they did?

It has a factory water cooler for the oil which might be part of why it gets hotter under boost
-
Ah that’s right, will take a gander

So now that this appears to be working properly, I'm slowly working through some tidy-up items etc. Will look to install a catch can for the oil breather as its making a bit of a mess of the intake and turbo. Temp gets up a bit while driving, nothing too concerning but runs a bit hotter than the n/a motor for sure. On one long hill in particular I could see the gauge slowly rising. When I got the car the radiator was stuffed and I got it rodded which fixed the issue with overheating at the time, but might not be up to scratch for the turbo motor. Looking at factory radiators from a patrol (which the engine came out off) they are much bigger than the gloria one. I think I remember someone saying r32 radiators fit, and can get decent looking alloy ones for reasonable coin, so will take a closer look at that. Still need to get around to drain the fuel tank and cleaning everything out etc. Will use up some more diesel first.

Rode it yesterday on my mtb, was a confusing sign that said closed to anything bigger than a four wheel drive motorbike.....was at an intersection tho at the start so may have been for anothertrack. Came across one 4wd and few quads as well driving it, as a handfull of 4wds parked up at at the shack things not far in from the start -
New filter got me home good as gold. So other than that keep not setback it aced its first trip (~900 kms) with the new motor. Such improvement over the old one, 5th gear everywhere and hills are no longer something you have to mentally and physically prepare for. Oh and a dude in levin told me it was sick, so clocked life right there.

Wondered who the random txt was from..... haha. I’m out of town sorry!

New filter did the trick for now, actually pulls noticeably harder than before which is a nice bonus. After letting the shit I drained from the old one sit over night, it looks a lot less like rust/crud and more like what the internet says diesel bug looks like. so I think it’s best to drain the tank and clean everything out, fun times ahead. I got a spare filter as well incase it blocks up quickly.

Yeh once I get home I’ll drain the tank and see what that’s like as well
-
Well I have to get home first so I’ll get a new filter to get me home then give everything a drain and clean. Once the shit has settled out a bit better I’ll tale a closer look but it defiantly felt sludgy and not metal/rust.

As per diesel thread, on our trip north last night got real bad surging under load. Long storey short I drained the fuel filter and found this Yummy. Unfortunately I’m in National Park/some distance from parts shops and nothing is open today anyway so off to Taupo tomorrow with the inlaws to grab a new filter. Might grab two haha, not sure where all the shot is coming from so probably not a silly idea

Anyone know what diesel bug looks like? This is kinda like dirt sludge with flakes.

How to I check the water trap? I open the tap thingy on the bottom of the filter and diesel smelling liquid came out.... I’ll give all the hoses and fittings a one over and check for blockages
-
Good thinking, shall do that. Whipped the top of the boost aneroid off to check the diaphragm, no leaks but the pin was pretty gunked up so have it a clean (and put it back in the same place). Doesn’t appear to have changed anything so can cross that off.

Roger that. Check as in visual inspection or is there an actual way to check if there is air getting in?

Internet diagnosis time people! Rd28t stuttering/stumbling under boost. Left Wellington last night and all was fine and dandy, but after a while it started surging (power would cut in and out, felt like driving into a really gusty headwind) when trying to accelerate at any decent rate. Got worse over time. I topped up with diesel from half a tank along the way and I can’t be sure but I think it was not long after that that I first noticed it, but may be a coincidence. initially I could drive around it by keeping the boost down and not giving it full beans, but by the time I arrived at my destination (300km), it was stumbling just keeping a stable speed. any ideas on where to start? I plan on checking the fuel filter (not sure what to check for haha), and obvious things first (leaks etc). Was also thinking perhaps a leaking/torn boost android diaphragm? As it feels Iike when it’s Making boost the fuelling is all out of whack. oh and it starts as it’s always starts (I.e. fine) and will rev out cleanly with no load. cheer!

You probably know this already but when going low on these you get mega camber and toe in at the back. Might be worth looking into options to remedy that considering the effort you are planning on! keen to see how things end up -
Sounds like something butlers would have?
