  1. looks like a good shell. dont know where another one is by any chance?
  2. the old mans ff2000 pinto motor was doin something similar, it was even spittin the rocker arm off! and as stated it was to do with seat pressures and high revs. kelfords rebuilt the head this time and now its mint. also running an oil with zddp in it helped, especially in old engines, i use it in the ca18det and shit it runs so much smoother than a full synthetic.
  3. have a look here http://www.esslingeracing.com/ some very nice shit on here that you might be after

    High Idle

whip off the aac plug after its warmed up and see if this fixes it, my ca18det was doin this too and it turned out this was the problem so got another one.
  12. thats a clean lookin engine bay mate. very nice escort. still developing the car or just thrashing the ring out of it?
  13. just use a mig and plug weld it, only thing is it will rust where as tig done properly it wont.
  14. if your still goin to drive it on the road id go 220-250 lb in the front and maybe 150 lb in the back which you would most likely have to get made, with 17s that would be plenty firm enough, especially if you still want to go round corners in the wet. and if its stock at the moment have you driven an old light car with spring rates your suggesting? youll rattle your eyes out of there sockets.
  15. as am i, but the shock body/casings are different lengths between mk1 and mk2, so if you have mk1 struts which you usually need for your top hats if they are the larger diameter in mk2 escort sruts, they are slightly longer and will leave your dobinson lowering springs uncaptive. trust me i have had to sort this before.
  16. if it was only patch primed with a pearl top coat that could be your problem. get it all primed up and go from there otherwise you mite still get the same problem even with just slappin on more coats.
  17. was the whole car shot in primer before painting? or only in some areas and your original paint just rubbed down and blown over? the difference looks night and day.
  18. To get certified i had to put my springs with da progression at the top. Thete is a difference in strut body length between mk1 and mk2 also.
  19. yeah its cold alright. got back yesterday and gone from 38deg to 9deg. thats a shit house deal mate.
  20. if you dont know the full load on the circuit, fuse it to the cable size, yes its american wire gauge but google will sort it to metric for you
