The Night Rider's 1986 Toyota MR-2 AW11 - Discussion
thegreatestben replied to The Night Rider's topic in Project Discussion
I always enjoyed mine looking fairly stock, aside from low; practically speaking, good fitting wheels and tyres. One of the best things about these is the fun of wolf in sheeps clothing, having naughty thoughts of a 2grfe powered one. -

Love my adubs, a true foamer will always spot a pre facelift though -
Nice! Agree this is a sweet car and Rhys is a thoroughly nice chap. I couldn't believe how fast he could make this go around manfield!

I bought a china special CDI like that for a china special scooter and it was shithouse. Went back to stock CDI, all problems sorted. Might be worth a go if you have another CDI.

help needed - ae86/aw11 steering rack dimensions
thegreatestben replied to Rhyscar's topic in Tech Talk
I wasn't sure if the racks themselves swap over but I know the Quaife quick rack kit fits both the AW11 & the AE86. -
Replacement brake rotors drilled slotted nothing whats good?
thegreatestben replied to Muncie's topic in Tech Talk
I am told one of the functions of slots/holes is the allow air/gas to escape from between the surfaces to maximise pad contact/coefficient of friction. When hot pad is being mashed they release gases which hold the pad off the surface. I could be wrong but it makes sense in my head. Fuck fully skimmed over Cletus saying this already. -
Ha so it is, looked the same on my potato device. Should have zoomed and enhanced like horatio

I noticed someone selling an R154 on facebook using your photo. That didn't take long, I wonder if they even have an R154...

When you put all three in the line up, it's red red red for me.

The carb on these are intended for fixed rpm I found. Didn't react well to quick throttle changes. -

I looked harder: Fully Dressed With Fluids: 163Kg And it's not a commodore motor LY7 dry - 168kg
-
Google says somewhere around 165-185kg. That probably doesn't include ancillaries but that's pretty light!

I finally got my a into g and put the deck back on after sharpening up the blades, tracking down a missing link and spring that connects the brakes.. Got about 5 mins into the job then found it kept dying when I had the deck down and put it into reverse. Noticed a bit wiring running to switch on the selector. Maybe I'm not supposed to mow in reverse? fuck you switch you get unplugged. another 5 mins and 1st drive belt goes ping. Fucker. Didn't look great when I bought it and pretty sure more smoke was coming from belt than engine. (which is none cos it's ace. thanks Guypie.)

piston diameter is 96mm according to interwebs there ky. They are pretty massive, the waterpump and accessories add a bit of length too. -
Nice. My one is VERY loud. It all does a bangin' key off about 5 secs after I kill the engine.

Lately I have been having really good dreams about a 2GR S2000. I think everyone would enjoy a hoon in said contraption
