  1. spot of weld on the nut face enough to get it hot then coal chisel on that glowing spot of weld, it'll damn near slip off if its fine thread

  5. i had some powder coated gunmetal by apl in te rapa, they run a heap of graphite through in the paint to give it a glisten in the light. they're a aluminum joinery outfit but other coaters could do similar.
  6. not oodles of room under a gem anyway, cutaway would take 300-350 x 250 max at 100mm tall, could be merit in running a twin system to keep it close to the floor boards.
  7. gemini has a raised piece of floor under passenger seat for muffler placement, i'd put it there, a flowmaster or something similar would be the best bet as they are availible in similar size to that cut away in the floor, then crossover behind the handbrake assembly and up over the diff using factory hangers.

  9. question regarding cages for clint, been advised a 6 point cage is neccesary to keep my gemini straight due to the v8 etc, planning on drags as well as cert for roaduse, was going to get carlos to build it but what are the specifics i should look at, size tube? plated in at A and B pillar? subframe to tie in at the B pillar was the plan, also will i still be able to carry rear seat passengers? tip forward fixed back seats for entry?

  15. there's a parts room in the front of the shed, the landlord will let you do pretty much anything as long as you do it even letting you borrow his demo kit. if jesse cleans up you'll fit

  17. hey cletus, want to set my firewall back, put in a new tunnel and also add subframe connectors in my gemini can you see any probs with that? subframe connectors were going to be heavy wall 50x85 box section, to do this i'll have to cut the back of the rear lower A arm body mount off to let the subframe connector pass behind it, tunnel out of 1.6mm or 2mm sheet. also would like to remove front seat pedastal mounts and replace with heavy box from the subframe connectors to the rockerbox's/sills.
  18. arrow have blank lips on the shelf 13"-17", best to shoot up with a centre and see them, $220-260 ea plus gst i believe. I'm replacing some for my tarossa's and i'll not see change from $1000 for 4 shells.

  20. sand does work but i use lead sinkers strung on an old clutch cable with a crimp at each end to hold them together, make sure you leave the adjuster on and hanging out so you can slide hammer your poor mans mandrel out of your bend's, have seen one made with big ball bearings also that worked even better but lead sinkers are easy to source.

    commodores suffer the same problem, to get it open just work the handle until it catchs then remove the latch mechanism and free it up penetrol works good, try both inside and outside handles too as sometimes one applies more pressure on the mechanism than the other
  23. i'm a fair noob on turbo hardware, need an external gate for a turbo on a 5.3, what size ? brand etc? not big boost 8-12psi max. also bov just after any snippets that could help, adjustability etc availibility of 8ps1 springs etc
  24. mazda mpv gets a 3.9 or 3.7 with non lsd, in a 76 housing the later head will fit but one axle (original axles) needs a bit of spline trimmed down for it to come together, dana lsd's fit the axles but i've yet to find a carrier that will take them without modification although they are very close ie same bearings etc etc just the offset is too far out without trimming the gears down from the older diffs
