  1. i bypassed the ballast on my wagon when i went to electronic ignition but didnt change the coil. hasnt blown up yet. I heard it would give a fatter spark at the expense of coil life
  2. so i have picked up a vibration that i think is coming from the driveline. It has been getting worse but i cant find it so i have been driving it hoping it will fail and the problem will be obvious.... Before nats the tired l26 will be changed for an 'running' condition l28, rebuilt gearbox, maybe twin carbs. It needs to make it to chch and back also... The turbo conversion is on hold until i can find the vibration problem I started to strip a gearbox to build another column change box to fit the car. I got it cheap from somewhere i cant remember. Unfortunatley it contains all of the sparkles In the spirit of os nats, i will leave it another month before i start repairing it
  3. I would say you need the cooler in the direct air path/ducted. You are pretty hard up it most of the time, and the fan can only pull air across the cooler at say 40kmh? At high rpm your oil pump is going to be moving a lot of oil volume x temperature is a lot of energy. How much delta t are you able to get with that fan using warm air? Are you able to put the cooler in one of the front corners with a thermostat on it?
  4. Did you check the timing with the vacuum hose disconnected?
  5. can you open the windows and crank the heater onto high for extra cooling? Got me home once when i had a stuck thermostat
  6. The v8. Rfb next weekend if I cm borrow a trailer.
  7. Done some more work. Got some cheap sheets of 3m ply seconds to stick on the walls, built some more shelves for all the shit I need/ am hoarding. Built a steel rack, got lots of those $5 plastic trays that stack well to store all my shit. 1 more day before back to work so need to tidy up some more and I can move my other project car in and finally work on it after aging it for the last 5 years...
  8. I helped a mate with an e30 BMW build a few years back. It had a factory 90deg linkage off the brake pedal going across the dash and another 90deg to have the booster and master on the left side of the engine bay. He took off the second 90deg and used a charade booster on the stock BMW master. You opened the glove box to top up the fluid. It was certed. I will look for a photo. Edit- can't find photo. Look in this thread for photos of another person doing it
  9. Everything above. Change the fuel filter. It could be blocked and they are cheap. Check the fault codes on the ecu Check the tps voltage at closed and fully open Change the plugs Flush the auto Clean the maf/swap it with a borrowed one to test
  10. How much room under the dash? Can you run one of those 90 degree pedal boxes and have the booster on its side, or even on the other side of the dash on a long push rod? http://m.ebay.com/itm/311305112286
  11. Did you say you had some 260c parts? Any luck finding places to make light lenses and stuff? I found a place in Oz that do them but it's minimum 50 pieces.
  12. pretty sure you cant fuck that up! you either have 12v or not.....
  13. Maybe that's why the few members of the local RFB brigade reckon you run rb25det(or maybe wrx) side feed injectors with the caps knocked off as cheap upgrades
  14. I would expect those plastic caps are only for protection of the injector nozzle/needle that is further up in the injector?
  15. Can you get it on some scales? You might have heaps more weight on one wheel. Surprising how much effect it has at high speed.
  16. Na, it's not a cross flow motor so the exhaust is right under the inlet manifold. I want to put 2 injectors in each carb now. They can be a bit smaller and make a better mist. Photos to follow when I get some time.
  17. Lol, those injectors are massive! I spent a few years working on a pair of turbo wartsila Vasa 18V46GD modified to run dual fuel. They were diesel up to 11MW then 365Bar gas up to 16MW. The injectors used to sieze into the head and took a 200T press to push them out.
  18. I chucked the fuelmiser brand inline facet type pump in my 260c. Works good. Forgot the price was cheap I think. I wired it to the ignition so I can turn the key on and prime the carb as its dry after 2-3 weeks of not running
  19. Haha, no I'm talking about the pinnacle of straight 6 engines here. The mighty Nissan L28! I don't want an efi manifold as its going into a 70's car and the twin carb manifold and air box looks original.
  20. Sorry I should have included more details but it was late. I have 2x su carbs that I want to take the Pistons out of and fit injectors. Tonight I'll put some photos on. It's on a l28. See this page for what I want to copy http://www.pattonmachine.com/TBI-Adapters.htm I want to run 2 injectors per carb.
  21. Try Marcus at Hamilton windscreens. He's a gc and went out of his way to sort my 260c screen.
  22. Anybody know of a good injector that I can mount 90 degrees to the air flow? I saw some once that had this plastic deflector looking thing on the end to make the spray go sideways. Also, what cc do I need to run a 2.8 with 4 injectors. I was thinking around 450cc mitsi ones. Future plans include around 5-7 psi also...
  23. It's time again. Been a long month. Metservice says weather will be mint if your a river creature. Also means the 50 won't be checking wof's in the rain. See you there!
  24. Long time no post. Just got back from Hamilton via rotorua. Still going strong. Have picked up some kind of vibration. Hoping it's a wheel bearing. Also, next stop.... Zu tutu tutu tutu! !!!!!!
