  1. Tech info for matching sender here http://www.veethree.com/temperature-gauges.html
  2. 69 bhp gross (SAE) = 59 bhp net (48 bhp/litre), Imp was 39 bhp net (44 bhp/litre), likely around 20-25 rwhp.
  3. I thought 13x8 were about the same price as 13x7, based on what Palmside are selling Revolution wheels for on the Tard. 205/60 tyres would keep your gearing the same as the 155s it originally came with, or go for 215/50 or 225/50 to fill the arches better. Good job on the resto.
  4. Just give the 1300 the usual period upgrades - warm cam, extractors, big valve head, or do same to a 1500 if you can find one? Or just leave it stock and enjoy it as the Lord (Nuffield) intended? A bit of bedtime reading http://triumphspitfire.rickbaines.com/weaknesses-of-triumphs-1500-engine/
  5. That's effectively what Triumph did for the Vitesse and GT6, except they stuck with the 1600 and 2000 to give the ex-Herald gearbag a fighting chance...
  6. Nice looking car. A MK IV, so with the sorted rear suspension? At least the gearbox can handle the power from the 1300, unlike the more powerful and heavier cars that used variants of it (GT6, Marina and non-Sprint Dolomite).
  7. Most local assemblers did a seatless van version of their wagons for tax purposes, Ford even did a Cortina van. Had to have a panel covering the seat space, although most got sold with a seat from the parts department for fitting at resale time (yeah, right).
  8. You wouldn't sell anything, they don't go anywhere without a supply in the boot along with the spare fan belt and sundry Lucas bits. lol
  9. Ben the Car Wrangler is on here as "The Dude". Pleased to hear nothing major has gone wrong with the van.
  10. Faulty repro rotors seem to be a widestream problem in the UK.
  11. Yep, you're stupid, but in the best way possible. You now own two of my favourite Rovers. Hope the engine starting/running issues aren't too major - dirty contacts or a broken wire, not broken computer.
  12. Thanks for the link. I wasn't aware of the "L" designation, always knew it as the MZR in the Mazda6 and US Ford Ranger, didn't realise it was the basis for the Ecoboost in the Falcon. Had a 2.3 in a Mazda6, went hard for what it was.
  13. Iirc Vitara box has transfer case in place of van's extension housing. Is Duratec same as MZ in Mazda6? Excellent choice, if it is. Thought the MX5 had the 2 litre version with 6 speed?
  14. These are the standard Suzuki ratios, Vitara is similar to Ford Sierra. Were you offered an 8-valve or 16-valve G13B? APV van had M16 and rwd 5-speed.
  15. One of them has been tested to 103mph in reverse...
  16. Common way in bike engined locosts is to just use the bike gearbox, and run a driveshaft off the sprocket with one of the commonly available adaptors, then use a reversing gearbox. http://www.extremeengines.com/shop/22/89/index.htm http://eliteracingtransmissions.com/categories/motorbike-engined-sub-menu/reverse-box/ Or a LSD with integral reverse gearbox http://eliteracingtransmissions.com/categories/motorbike-engined-sub-menu/mx200-il/
  17. Suzuki G series or M series 4-banger, or the Suzuki version of the Mazda V6?
  18. The interview on TV3 with the onion rep came across as an old fashioned reminder to the gummint - "we scratched your back..."
  19. What are your "new" front seats out of?
  20. Sorry for the thread hijack, but is a Datsun 240Z 5-speed worth $350? Info on the web suggests should be closer ratio than standard Ford or Toyota 5-speeds. 1972 through 1976 Factory Five Speed Transmission Ratios 72/76 two piece case Non-US FS5C71B 1. 2.906 2. 1.902 3. 1.308 4. 1.000 5 0.864 RearGear 3.900 https://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=1460748709
  21. BW45 was designed for up to 2-litre engines. Only ever fitted to UK Chryslers. There's some info floating around on the web.
