  1. don't the streetstock guys fill the diff with either brakefluid or ATF to get them to bind uinder acceleration, whilst still being open while on the test rollers ?
  2. if you don't increase compression ratio in the head by planing, then the chamber area is reduced by the increased piston crown. main piston to valve issues are reduced by flycutting piston and very careful camtiming
  3. how far can STD pistons go ? skim the head and mod the cam pulley to bring compression up ?
  4. fuck me that's hot rod, even got them fangled mud guard thingamybobs on it. they must be seating for all the bisches it gonna pull !!
  5. conrod Chris Bowden up Norf would be a worthy enquiry Bowden Engine Parts
  6. probably the easiest and cheapest way to do it, unless a Dyna came up for the same treatment
  7. i breifly entertained the notion of trading my L/C80 Sahara on this, but he never replied as to what it needs to recomply it. also appears to be an amount of indecision between what parts interchange from the more common U1700
  8. B series Toyota, as fitted to Dyna/40-60 L/C. unsure how old the latest version is though. may be better with the Isuzu above
  9. make it a tufor, and have a crack at my Catlins block on way down or back ?
  10. i've fitted it to every car i could, but always went for the factory option, and not some gimmick box. have got a 4K dizzy with ignitor if you wanna try it, you'll just need correct coil
  11. why do those gold Enkei's only look good on a rally car ?? but in white or silver they suit most cars
  12. just a thought, if my depleted memory serves me less alzheimer than normal........... didn't the 18rg come out with 44pph mikuni/solex carbs, and the 2tg got the 40pph ?? some slippery skippy mite have fleeced the good working 44's and swapped for manky worn 40's ?
  13. OK, looked like small bundy tube from the photo
  14. i reckon there'd be fuck all people that can tune by ear, better than tuning by tools, hence the reason even a queer old cunt like me needs to get with the times and get a wideband !! the guys that do the final tune on the Levin are probably tone deaf (like me) and maybe only improve 5-10% on my base tune. proper measuring tools (synrcometer and wideband) would possibly be the same increase again.
  15. both have been chopped, but i am sure one can be used with appropriate sensor. my DHLA's are tuned oldschool styles, but i should get clever and get wideband for brutal honesty. if you stuck, and no-one has one to lend, i do have a syncrometer if you need it to borrow.
  16. cool wee car, havn't seen one for an age. just a wee point i noticed. i'd seriously think about replaciing hard line from oil pressure sender with a braided rubber line to inner guard and go steel from there. engine vibrations may cause hard line to fracture and dump oil everywhere. it's something we always done to rallycars, but often we mounted the gauge pick-up and a hobbs switch (separate O/P light), on a T mounted on the inner gaurd.
  17. it's all a consumer conspiracy. i'm yet to come across a home garage spec chinese drill press that runs at slow enough speeds to not overheat drill bits, thus leading the DIYer into fits of rage having to replace drillbits all the time. whereas the old Dyco drillpress i have, can even make round holes with cheap chinese drillbits
  18. looking good. were you looking at a laminated timber for your benchtop ? i will be doing some sharp deals on rimu shortly as i have a metric fuckload to process, but would depend on length i what i have could be of use.
  19. fucksake, he lives in Clutha district, you reckon he can find his way to South Gore ? Tulluch County!!
  20. in theory, it could be one of those big , long T series (TE71/AE86 etc) bearings which are a complete darling to get out when they would rather stay where they are. anchor the car down real good and slam the fucker out if it is housing. have almost pulled my Levin of it's perch getting the blighters out.
  21. undo the last bolt !!!! get some ti-tensile threaded rod and make 2 spreaders to push the axle flange, once under tension, try cracking with a hammer. don't put huge load on it, as you could distort the axle flange
