  1. Hi Al, No the theres still thread left so not completely retarded. But half retarded lol. And yup single bolt clamp that slots in. I have one spring washer and the rest are flat. Correct me if im wrong but does it make a difference having 2 spring washers? Tbh i only have one spring washer available...
  2. Hey guys Ive had issues with my dizzy pooping out a few times now. Last week my dizzy popped out again and it also took out some of the thread at the same time.... Though the bolt was only long enough to thread half way. So I got a longer bolt and it seemed to have done the job until now.. I no longer have issues with the dizzy popping out but now it seems to like to move around.. I was at CNC today. Got there fine but some skyline blokes had to help me start the car while i rotated the dizzy to fire it up again. I cant seem to keep it in place without the dizzy turning around and when I give it some gas it starts to move again.. Any tips on what I can do? Ive already tried putting in more washers but doesnt seem to help.. Thanks Min
  3. Okay, looks like I found the issue. The timing was off 180 degrees hence it idled well when timing was retarded to 30deg. Nothing really wrong with the carbies although it still might need a tune.
  4. Can't agree with you more. already gone through 2 weekends trying to troubleshoot the issues... This car original had an 18rg with these carbs in perth until 3 days before getting into a container, the valves cracked and go stuck. Hence we sourced and slapped on an 18rgeu with the same carb configuration from the original 18rg. I assume the manifold is for the 18rgeu configuration with efi hence the narrowband. Just tried compression testing the cylinders but realized theres a vacuum leak on my tester.. constantly smacking my fukn head on the wall;;;
  5. As far as googling goes, both 18rg and 2tg came with 40phh. 18rg had the 40ph type S5 and 2tg had the S4. 44phh were only used on the 151e and 152e engines. (But I could be wrong)
  6. thanks Al Just tighten them both but doesnt feel like they were loose in the first place. looks like i have to keep digging!
  7. Hi Seedy Al, The ones on the car is an oem Mikuni 40ph Type S5 off an 18RG. I will open up the jet cover today and double check. When this did occur, did all 4 cylinders ran rich or was it just one cylinder? Thanks Min
  8. Thanks Smokin Joe but I better get one for myself since i'll be needing one long term. I hope the day will come when I can tune my carbies with only a rubber pipe and ear.
  9. ignoring the previous owners effort to make the oem manifold look like a proper header, does that look like a narrowband? @Abarthis this the one u have? https://www.thetoyshop.co.nz/the-tool-co-product/gunson-range/carbalancer?i=2882&c=438
  10. I'll try get the following done this weekend - the normal maintenance and eliminate the possible serviceable item issues. - Check cam timing - sort out a carburetor balancing tool - link up wideband (if its the one on the manifold) - and new spark plugs for the 3rd time this week! Hopefully with the above done, I can drive it to a proper carby tuner who can sprinkle their magic to make it drive properly.
  11. Thanks Spencer, I think I recall seeing one of these below the exhaust manifold on my celica. Might take a pic when I get home
  12. Thanks Abarth, do you know of any NZ suppliers selling Uni-Syn or a carb balancing tool? Looks like ebay sells a lot of them but non available in NZ..I have called the likes of Repco/SCA/Partmaster BNT etc, no-one supplies any
  13. looks like the 2 chokes are connected to eachother but nothing going back to the firewall. I assume its been disconnected since you'd probably not need it in perth? I moved the screw on the chokes and they move okay.
  14. Thanks K-Trip I will certainly take your advice on this. I agree with the carb tuning. Since I have never tuned carbs let alone driven one until yesterday.. I will keep some spare cash on the side for someone who knows what their doing. I just want to make sure that most troubleshooting has been done by me to save as much money going outwards as I can. Quick question, to adjust the tappets do I really need a adjustment tool or can it usually be done with a socket set? Thanks Min
  15. Thanks Azzuro Yes banging and popping out of carbs but theres definitely knocking with load too. Yeah, I have re-seal the rocker cover gasket since its pissing out oil from the sides anyway so will have a look. Is there any reading/information for cam timing for dummies? Surely google is my friend but if there are any recommendations please let me know.(never done this before). Fuel pressure was definitely something I am considering. Since its running an electro fuel pump, I assume that is pushing higher than the recommended 4.5PSI. Does anyone have an recommendations for a bypass fuel pressure reg? Carbs are definitely not clean either... Thanks guys
