yoeddynz
Fill the rocker cover with a fine paste of banana skins and sawdust. That'll make it quieter. For a while.

Slacker_Sam.
I tried swearing at it in English and Russian. I'll take the tensioner out and see if its shagged. timing chain seems to be tight though.
NickJ
Have you got a workshop manual for it? I can send the niva engine section to ya, should be the same if it helps? Can you get a mirror down to see the condition of the tension shoe? they too can wear out and get noisy
Slacker_Sam.
Ive got a manual. I'll have a look and see. It'd be a real pain if it was worn out. after all its only done 60,000ks.
ThePog
They are not a refined engine, do not worry about noises too much. Or do what I did and find a Fiat twin cam to drop in...
azzurro
no no no no NO thats ^ terrible advice. jhoozh it up all nice and sort out all the weird PO hippie stuff, then get sick of the rattly engine, sell it to me for a song and then i'll put a twin cam in it

Slacker_Sam.
Haha I'm not sure how they have done half of them up. I cant get to the heater ones to undo them. Some kind of Russian contortionist is required I think.
EURON8
Just don't think about it while you attack them with nips.
NickJ
I've managed to re use them, needle nose pliers.... but I've also replaced the lot they're retarded!, including the ones on the brake reservoir....My radiator always leaks, had it recoed a few times too, found I just have to reflow that top hose occasionally, leave the cap loose or cut the springy seal doofa out so it can't pressurise, they don't seem to like the pressure too much!
