HKM400
Cheers, very pleased. Carb is good now- changed the regulator and a few minor tweaks sorted it. Also relocated and replaced the fuel filter as the pump was struggling a little bit.
flyingbrick
What's up with the big hole in ya watch strap? For some reason it puzzles me haha
HKM400
Funny story with that, I found that watch on a beach about 18 years ago. (HA i'm 23 now). Anyway we handed it in and nobody claimed it so I got to keep it. Only rediscovered it in my drawers a year ago, slapped a new battery in it and off she went. It's an iron man watch so the hole is for a small compass. which was rooted, so there is a big hole in my watch. And that's my story

HKM400
Took me far less time to restore a watch than a bloody lotus that's for sure
Mof
You're in chch yeah? If the pads/shoes aren't really soaked in oil you're welcome to chuck them in the turbowash at work for half an hour. Works quite well and they look like new again.
HKM400
Indeed in Christchurch. That would be awesome if you don't mind- I think they're savable. Greenstuffs too so a new set won't be that cheap.
Mof
Sweet as. Bring both sides so they wash the same and won't get an imbalance. Flick me a pm or something
Mof
Diffs are a black art, even mechanics get it wrong some times.
HKM400
Agreed, seems that way. Might be a case of trial and error with the torque?

yoeddynz
90 doesnt seem overly hot.. but that's if it did get that high?... Are you sure that your temp gauge reads accurately - it may well be that the sender and gauge dont match and as the heat goes up the gauge reads disproportionately too high?
kiwisurf
As above 90oC is not that hot. Remember water boils at 100oC at sea level. Add the radiator cap to increase the pressure and the anti boil properties of coolant and the boiling point is going to be somewhere around 137oC. peteretep
I reckon get a bigger radiator man, I had to get a new radiator in my escort when the engine was fancied up as it kept getting hot, made my problems go away. Also bought the flashest electric fan I could get to fit into the space, fitted to the front of the radiator
HKM400
I did replace the sensor awhile back- and had trouble finding one that actually fitted so a good point and I will check- how does one know how to match the sensor to the gauge? Engine doesn't seem to struggle as the temps increase either so maybe I am being lied to by my gauge. Radiator is pretty new- I will do a proper flush on it I think- my electric fan is fitted to the back however, maybe that is causing issues? The fan is setup to pull air through the radiator which I guess is correct. Might have more luck if it is mounted in front and blows air through? Or maybe the fan is a bit shit...
