punkoutnz
Those accuspark electronic ignition modules off trademe seem to work pretty well, certainly a lot better then points. You can adapt a fully electronic distributor, there's some good info here but those accuspark ones are literally about 30 minutes to install and seem to work great, less mucking around involved. I haven't got too far into it, that was going to be my next project then I ended up buying a motorbike which is taking my time/money instead. From what I had been reading you ideally want 36-38mm carbs to work with either 1300 or 1600 engines, no point going bigger unless running a really wild cam or something. There is some good info here from a guy that did it. Shaneo is probably the man to talk to about it though. That's some brilliant info! Cheers for that, I'll have a read, particularly about the electronic ignition part. See if I can't start piecing bits together from pick a part. There's always the option of just buying an electronic dizzy but why not have a go doing it the fun way!
shaneo
Save your money and buy a brand new set up dizzy coil the lot I have one in mine now the power is great and so smooth. I still have your window winders here

xsspeed
oh jeah I like that colour cue "where'd you get it done and what $$?" question
camo_78
nice choice of colour .ive always liked escorts on spitfires better than being on tridents,so may be an option, all polished up against the new paint??
punkoutnz
My mate Ben painted it, cost me a little over 2k with me doing the prep work (basically just turn up, spray and drive/tow away). Did the door jams, boot jams but not in the engine bay (will do that when I take the engine out down the track). Arent' spitfires basically just deep dish tridents? I guess those would look okay, Basically I think anything shiny with a lip would look pretty nice on it, it's just choosing the right flavour. Avenga has a set of Cheviot Turbo wheels I've been thinking about, could maybe polish those up and they would look nice. I hate choosing wheels, especially after just going through the stress of choosing a car colour! Haha. I don't like making big decisions. Shaz
You can never go wrong with brown. That was a good decision.
Brock-Lee
Colour is so awesome! Gang wife slam and then any 13" wheel around 7" wide with 175/50 ala

punkoutnz
Yeah those wheels are pretty sweet but are there any NZ suppliers? Just had a look and can't find any with the googles. At least it has round wheels that spin for now. Also wont be doing any stretchy tyre fitments. They don't do it for me as a look.
Brock-Lee
175/50 on a 7 is basically square. Those rims above are heinously expensive but it doesnt really matter what wheels you end up with tbh, the picture above was to show how fucking awesome 13x7ish wheels coupled with 175/50's and a tonne of slam. I will go find Chalky B's thread to show how cool a set of 13x6.5s look.

punkoutnz
Yeah that's pretty hearty aye. I guess the logical step is to lower it (I only wanna drop it 2", I think that'll be plenty) and then keep an eye out for a wheel that suits. At least there's a strong market for tridents when the time comes! Shouldn't be hard to sell these wheels.
punkoutnz
Does anybody have hookups or the skills required to install windscreens? Will replace the windscreen rubbers and chrome locking strips but a bit nervous about what it'll cost to get a glazier in.

Bistro
Oh mean, Chalky B inspirations. Yea can't go wrong with 175/50/13s and a 3" drop. That's what I had and looked pretty sweet. ...do miss my Chalky..
flyingbrick
How had I missed these updates. That looks great man. couldn't have picked a better color.
punkoutnz
Right so the front camber has always been a little crazy, but I've found it's rooted a tyre so that's going to be replaced tomorrow. But another issue is a knock coming from the right front wheel, I inspected it tonight and have traced it to the rack end. My haynes manual describes a ball join in there, does anyone know anything about these? It reckons they're replaceable. Will then get a wheel alignment to sort the camber issues and hopefully make it a little less flighty. Gotta sort these things before beach hop! Elmo2003
To gt the steering arm off the rack there is split tube pin that u need to drill out in order to unwind the arm off the rack to replace the steering arm If its the bottom arm ball joint az far az im aware its cast into the arm so u'll hav to replace whole bottom arm (i could be wrong on this tho) I do how ever hav spare bottom arms which i wnt need az iv put adjustable camber 1's in
shaneo
They can be adjusted or a new quick rack is $
