kiwi808
Cool. 4x4's are soo much fun. This would look awesome in a matt green or maybe camo (or is that too much?). Is it currently street legal (I'm guessing not by some of the pics but what do i know). Will follow along with great interest/might learn something for mine... danger
Not currently road legal but I'll cert it when done. Just gotta make a spring perch now then it can be painted and the diff can be built up.
Nominal
You reckon the housing is still straight after all that welding on it?
kyteler
It looks like he took his time on it. I'm sure it's fine.
danger
The armour wasn't attached to the diff when I fully welded it up then I tacked it all in place before welding the armour to the diff. I'll be surprised if its out of shape. If it is then that's life.
danger
I'd be less surprised to find out it was bent to start with tbh.
danger
Finished front leaf crossmember with recovery points tonight. Ran out of argo and had to finish it with CO2 but it went on alright. Added triangle gussets to the front and rear. Got diff back together with new bearings, bushings and marlin crawler inner axle seals. Diff head is still open so haven't bothered rebuilding that till I can afford a locker. Now just need to find some long travel shocks, possibly make hoops to mount them and buy/make an adjustable torque rod and the front end will be done for now. danger
So a year and a half later I did some work on this. No pics yet. Rebuilding front axle/knuckles with the LSD unit out of the rear at the moment. Bought new 35x12.5x15 federals Next thing will be buying a locker for the V6 diff head I'm gonna rebuild and put in the rear. Also high steer kit and longer shocks for the front. Have IFS Steering box etc. Haven't done anything else but watch it rust. Oh and bought a half cage type thing out of a pajero with a light bar that I'll mod to fit the wellside. danger
When my money tree blossoms. Pretty maxed out at the moment. Locker and high steer stuff will take care of atleast another grand then probably another $600 in shocks. Gonna get the chassis how I want it then look at the motor/ box
danger
Anyone fitted a trailgear hi steer kit before? Assume I've gotta cut off the torque rod-chassis mount before I can fit the steering box mount?
danger
Mounted this up. Hopefully welds are ok for cert? they're ugly but strong.
