Ring Coastal Fasteners in Wellington - they should be able to sell you half a dozen of what you need.

So, now I've bullied you into the shifter :P , whadda ya think of it ?

Must admit I was a little dubious at first and wondered if you were on commission. Pretty happy with it when on bench. But Oh La La in the car it is Fantastic! I have seen the light and believe now!

Just picked up an aluminium off cut from a mate for custom gear knob to raise the stick some more.

Looking good though, when are you heading to the track next? I'm hamilton based now, so will be keen to come and watch / help.

Track date to be confirmed. Need to seek leave pass from the handbag. Did not help the cause by being unexpectedly late from work tonight. Got sidetracked by beer and new project car Moby at mates place on the way home...

I'll post up when heading to the track. Be great to meet you.

I hope your verey cool great red race car is with you and coming to the track too.

Cheers

The old tacho was done by sparky and seems to be wrong as it goes to the positive side of the coil. Maybe that’s why its all over the show or maybe I just have more head scratching to work out wiring.

Na the stock Escort and I think mk1 Capri tachos have an inductive loop, the coil + goes through it.

Track day edition 2.

Was pretty worried about the leak! Third inlet manifold gasket looked good after warm up and flush with cheap oil. But after dumping oil the weeping started again as engine cooled down leading to the swearing starting again. This was Friday night... The second gasket showed signs of leaking in other places above the cam and lifters not just out the front and the dipstick was doing a milky impression. Bugger. A couple of heat cycles and re-torquing bolts dit not change it. Too late to rebuild it again as have to get Sparky going as well. –Mates Mk2 4dr Escort.

The plan came down to just frickn go, monitor it and see what it does. I had resisted throwing a radiator stop leak in as what else is that going to gum up inside and what is really causing the leak…? But as last ditch effort siphoned out some coolant and threw some in.

Sighting lap, same result: Weeping, swearing and milky dipstick. They held us for ages on the dummy grid to clear the last group just to build the anticipation…

Car ran really well. Surprisingly well balanced and bit of grunt with great soundtrack. New SuperCheap tacho was well over-reading so I ignored it. Maybe bad idea as I think I valve bounced it up the back straight and the olde Essex is not a big fan of big revs. Back in the pits and quick up the bonnet. WOOOOOHO no leak and clean dipstick!

I love my new friend.

Congrats! Everything go to plan? That pesky leak stay away?

Time to get the angle grinder onto those springs? :)

Crop sprayer height is unfortunately dictated by driveway hump and inherited exhaust system currently scraping the fat mid body cans. $$$$ to sort.

On the must do list, but behind new radiator and fuel tank and cage.
