So hopefully you guys can see the difference in the paint colour from when I first had her done.

Hopefully I can get some pics in the sunlight so you can see the gold that comes through.

Car is back in Auckland over easter and then it might be cruising time with Richy and his Ced.

Good man, I'm happy for you and jealous all over again.

I think I actually prefer the first colour, though I think the new colour needs to be seen in the flesh to appreciate. Look awesome regardless

FWIW I was given the code, got the paint in, car came mostly masked up as the deal was I only had to walk up to the car and paint it.

As for the wrong code.....the unfortunate fact is you were not around to sign off on the colour prior to painting.

I'm sorry you were not happy with it, but remember the old saying "you only get what you pay for" and in your case you got a lot more than you paid for as I did a lot more than asked as a favor to Murray.

^^ I had a quick look over both the build and discussion threads and couldn't see where BIG A said he was unhappy with the paint job? He states many times he is happy to have it back and that it's looking great.

So the Gloria comes back from the painter today and my dad gives me a call sounding really pissed off, guess what they painted it the wrong fucken colour!!

The dumb idiots went and painted it the gun metal grey even after my dad saying to the guy it was titanium and it had heaps of pearl in it.

So heres what it looks like.

So hopefully once my dad calms down ( he swore at the painter and said he was fucking angry that he didnt listen to him) the painter will have to sand the car down and redo it in the correct colour.

and

So main problem was that we gave the guy the wrong paint codes but he should have checked to make sure that he was painting it the right colour as it would have come up saying it wasnt titanium like what my dad had told him. So long story made short is it will stay this colour and apparently it is way lighter when you see it with your eye.

Even the car painter next door said the colour looks amazing so we will see what it looks like with the chrome.

When I original painted it I was given the code only plus was told it was a skyline colour, yeah sure I was told it was a pearl but that was after the fact.

I was not able to check the colour off with the owner and had to paint it immediatly due to a time frame, not my fault, valuble lesson to you guys out there, be involved and pay for what you want, otherwise dont grizzle if thing fall short of your dream.

yeah that's cool mate but I just would have thought that after nearly two years it would have been water under the bridge? The car seems to have been painted again after the accident so the finish of the first paint job seems to be irrelevant now.

Guys, drop it.

Carpainter has come on to show his side of the story and defend his company. I don't think there is any harm or foul intended, rather he's trying to point out how mis-communication can cause issues. It's a perfectly respectable thing to do and doesn't need to ignite any argument.

Got to see the car last week, only saw it in the shade and imo looked better in the colour I painted in but as Murray said "it does look better in the sun" I just hope BIG A likes it as thats all that matters.

btw not repainted by me.

Hey Stuart sorry you got your nose so out of joint over my comments but if you were in my position you would have probably been a bit pissed off if you asked for a specific colour and then got something different.

As for the paint job you did a good job but just not titanium which is what I was after. As stated blame lies on both parties and I am not going to go into a long winded back and forth session on what each did wrong so I think we should just get over it as I know I have.

Anyway moving on.........

New parts have been ordered through Ewan in Japan so I should have some extra goodies to get the car back to where it was before that dickhead who pranged into me.

saw this parked somewhere between htown and huntley yesterday, looks fantastic, you were nowhere to be seen so kept going

Yes you would have seen the car in Te Kuiti where my folks stopped for a bite to eat.

PM a guy called BROKE on the datsun forums, I gave him my old 280zx electronic dizzy.
Hes swapped the rotor part out for a 4 cly engine to go on the L20B. That was also a L20E one, Def go electronic ignition - the idle and general running of my l26 is loads better than the old one with point iginition
