mad_max
I have a 4x800w amp and thats the only numbers it has left on it as has been (customized). Does this mean its 3200w rms? Just wondering for when I sell it and general knowledge
KKtrips
chuck up a picture but sounds really high - perhaps its a 4 x 200W = 800W?
Raizer
Will be 3200w, but don't expect it to actually put out anywhere near 3200w!! Powervox among a couple of other cheap brands do 3200w 4 channel amps, think there is/was a couple of other brands that did decent class A/B amps in that range, but they are big and built like a brick shit house! Throw up a couple of photos and someone might be able to identify it. Or open it and see what it says on the boards, might be able to id it that way. mad_max
Sorry not sure how to add pic. the brand is red power. Obviously some chinese crap but still not sure how they could make a 3200w amp

Raizer
Technical Details: ============ OUTPUT POWER (MAX): 3200W (800W x 4 @ 4 Ohms) OUTPUT POWER Bridgeable @4Ohms x2 OUTPUT POWER RMS: 240W (60Wx4 @ 4 Ohms) So its really a 240w amp They seem to sell for around $180 new. Bling
Shit they laid the marketing on thick on that amp!
mad_max
Cheers, So it is as cheap and Chinese as i though it was. Might be time for an upgrade then, Was wondering why it wasnt running to great. Was running 2 1200w subs and 6x9s so if it 240 watt probably wasnt liking that too much

I'd be willing to bet my left gonad it wouldn't even be putting out half the RMS IRL.
mad_max
Oh yea, not doing to bad for 2 1200 subs and 2 450w 6x9s then
fuel
bare in mind the 1200w and 450w ratings on the subs and speakers will be peak power also (just like the bogus amp), and will no doubt have similar mediocre true RMS values. mad_max
Yea probably. Still go good though, But as theyre in a van I need more Time for new amp and more components
Snoozin
Power ratings on speakers and the way people rank them as such have always bemused me anyway, it's not generally a good indication of how it will go. It's merely how much power it will handle before it shits itself. Sensitivity and frequency response are the key pointers to how a speaker will perform. I've got an old Alpine 3566 6-channel that's only rated at 240w RMS, yet has 2 x 25 amp fuses. They sure don't make them like they used to
mad_max
Everyone says the older amps are better unless you pay alot for a good new 1. I have an old sony 500w amp and I use it for most of my sounds, Its much easier to tune, etc. Can make it sound how you like without having to do it on the back with a screwdriver, Has big nobs on the top
Yowzer
60W RMS, 800W Max? Whos arse did they pull those figures from? May be possible for 1/8th of a second if you pump 60+ volts into it.. Yeah, as seen from your own example, don't base an amp on its max power rating, as it's usually bullshit.
