Sparkle
yuck @ 320i auto. Rather a 318i than a 320i. If getting a six, get a 323i or 325i. 4 cyl E30s do have the small diffs, they apparently blow with skids fairly easily. Six cyl ones have the medium case, they're sweet, and you shouldn't fuck one of them. Gearboxes are ok, probably more likely to give you trouble than much else, but are fairly easy to come by with the small 6s that are in E30s (2.0-2.7) and the 4cyl. Facelifts usually look sweeter than pre-facelifts, but as the one in that auction, the lower black part of the front lips always fall off, and it looks shit. Sparkle
I'd be more tempted with these; http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-ca ... 067622.htm this could be a fucken sweet score if you've got time to fix all the little fuck-ups on it, these "m"325i sell for ridiculous coin over here, some close to 10k. http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-ca ... 186479.htm yuck wheels, but mabe http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-ca ... 621650.htm

mk2escort
Over prived imo. I sold my e30 coupe for $4200 a couple of months ago. Was a tidy manual and had a hot 2.7l in it.

Testament
but can a e30 handle a good old thrashing every corner of every day? define "a good old thrashing" and define the envisaged maintenance expected you can break anything if you do burnouts into curbs and run out of oil etc.etc.

coldturkey
You should probably stick to no car if you want to drive around the public roads and do skids every day. /rant
