Unclejake
^ What he said. Don't put it in your freezer or you risk trouble (evidently). A chillybin is best.

Simon
And don't put it in coke bottles with water and chuck them on your lawn at 8:30pm. Got Armed Offenders to my house. Neighbors thought it was a terror attack.
Vintage Grumble
Cheers guys, I just want to remove sound deadening from a car, guess I would need a couple of boxes full? Better find me a chilly bin. Will refrain from blowing things up also (as hard as that will be)

spanners
Weathers not to hot yet just chip it out you girl, once you get your technique down it flies off Can vouch for that but I reckon dry ice may help remove more. Mine still has lots of really small bits that are gona be a right cunt to get off
Vintage Grumble
Weathers not to hot yet just chip it out you girl, once you get your technique down it flies off I may have to, closest BOC is in TGA/ROT, two hour drive just to get the ice. Woman love picking things, the wife can do it.
KKtrips
Try a party supply place - they may do it - or possibly a chemist may be able to get it in - or BOC Tauranga may deliver it by courier.. If its in a polysterene container it will last a good length of time..
Brock-Lee
^this, over at allied we have dry ice delivered all the time. just turns up in a polybin
Vintage Grumble
Chur, i'll go visit them, see if they can hook a brother up/see how much it costs. When I worked there, they were using liquid nitrogen for something, wonder how well that would work on sound deadening?
Unclejake
Just try ordinary ice first mang Also - I found the air chisel to be supremely awesome at removing black sound deadening. It just flew off and with care the steel is left undamaged http://www.trademe.co.nz/Building-renov ... 239871.htm
JoKer
half a hacksaw blade in a saws-all works wonders... (like a mechanical chisel but BETTER)
My name is Russell
Mk1Mad just did the entire underside of his Escort with a heatgun. Sounds like it went ok.
Brock-Lee
^fuck that, makes it into a gluggy mess that goes EVERYWHERE. Either do it without adding anything, or do it by adding cold.
Vintage Grumble
Yeh, is pretty much tar, can imagine heating it up/making it gooey could get messy. I'll have a go at it once carpet is out, and if its a total cunt, i'll get the dry ice. Also I dunno if std ice would have the same effect, as that would be say -10? dry ice turns to gas at about -55, so its a piss load colder. fishtailfred
Ancient bump, but I used ordinary ice to do this today. Just in a normal bag, straight out of the freezer, thrown on the ground a few times to break it up. https://twitter.com/FredCookeNZ/status/726304915207811072 It just stiffened it up enough to crack/separate more easily with hammer blows. I wasn't too worried about modifying the steel beneath, though, if I had been, it'd have been less successful. https://twitter.com/FredCookeNZ/status/726305152827715584 I took three sections off about 375mmx375mm total, and my goal was as yours, weight removal, but for a very different reason. Weight removed was about 560 grams. Yay. Afterward I had a grubby bag of ice that I didn't want to put back in the freezer, so I tipped it into a bucket and put three bottles of Rochdale cider in there. A fitting reward for an afternoon's hard work
