peteretep
I am interested in looking at redoing my brake lines as I have lost parts and would like to make it look reasonable, How hard is it and how much will it cost/save? Are the fittings expensive or hard to get? I have the old calipers, rear drums and brake booster from when my car was previously on the road, and I think I have done my best to keep bad stuff from fouling anything but I cant be sure, how do I know that it will work again? is it just as easy as flushing the system once installed? what size debris give brake systems trouble? I think I will need: -brake line - who sells? -brake fittings - who sells? -flexible joints -brake line clips -tube bender -tube flaring tools -anything else? I also want to run my own steel fuel lines so I can do them at the same time
sheepers
its pretty easy to make up brake and fuel lines, the tube can be purchased from Race Brakes, Segidens or Repco, price it up first because it can vary wildly in price. all the fittings you need can be obtained from Race brakes. the only thing you'll need is a flaring tool. you can get a semi decent one new or you can go to the tool barn in the back of panmure roundabout/mount wellington and have a look there. they quite often have good quality stuff for reasonable prices. or you could borrow one, lots of people have them.. sheepers

sheepers
no. blow the lines out before you attach anything and youll be fine.
UTERUS
^ speaketh the truth. Made lines for a land rover ages ago, surprisingly easy when you get into the groove of it. Never had a problem with swarf in the lines, i de burred everything and blew all the lines out. I used a drill bit to make the pipe pretty looking again after it had been cut. Raizer
I've got about 13meters of new steel brake line here, I brought it for my old escort and never used it lol. PM me with an offer if you want it (I say offer as I can't remember what I paid for it)
Hemi
yea you'll only really need a pipe bender if your making some awesomly tight bend that would normally cause the pipe to kink . piss easy.
V8Pete
Get the tube, nuts, P-clips from Autostop. Repco didn't know what I was talking about, and Racebrakes had bugger all stock when I tried them. Autostop sell shitty but adequate flarers and cutters for like $50. A little hand bender thing is pretty handy for getting it neat.
bubblegoose
main rule for doing this is 'itl do wont do' make sure the flares are perfect, its quite easy to have one lopsided or slightly split not what you want i have a power built flaring tool, brought one after borrowing one and it does a great job used a a few bits of exhaust pipe to get neat bends
peteretep
are all brake lines the same size? ill look at some tools tomorrow
eke_zetec_RWD
3/16th bundy tube, i think the copper knickelstuff it the easiest to work plus it gold lol. dnt buy a bender, pipe or thumbs work sweet! the fittings are called tube nuts. check the threads as there are metric and imperial and different sizes. the tube should be around 30 to 40 a roll of around 5 meters......
