d.p.n.s
^ Kent A2 grind.Don't be fooled by a smooth idle. My race car idles smoothly and it has a cam that would smash your standard valve train to glitter in 30 seconds. Lumpy idle with a hot camshaft is a thing of the past yeh my old van had a wild cam in it and it was so smooth mate. and then again i remember the lumpy cam i had in my old mk1 capri that use to shack the car to bits lol aaahhh the good old days

dylan
so i started stripping the motor down tonight looks to be in not bad nick, can somebody tell me does the block need to be bored out to fit 1300 pistons or is it a straight swap? Raizer
No need to bore if you get stock size pistons and your block isnt bored already, the 11/13/1600's share the same bore size just different strokes
dylan
sweet i might price some tomorro then
two_days_late
Could be worth gettin some oversized 1300 pistons though, as getting a motor bored and honed is only like $120 and then ya get a nice fresh bore. Have just done exactly the same thing with mine. Also an uprated head gasket to cope with the extra compression. Cheers Matt
Raizer
Yeah totally worth boring it out a bit! My Xflow runs 1100HC spec pistons, im not sure of the comp ratio but it wouldn't run on 91 with out major pinking lol
Unclejake
Also an uprated head gasket to cope with the extra compression.Cheers Matt How did you go about that? Is there a special gasket that can be purchased and if so what bore sizes tdo they go to? Thanks.
two_days_late
My engine builder sorted it out, but im pretty sure its just an ACL part. Think its made of carbon, will be talkin to him again in about 2 weeks so can find out for you if you like. My pistons are 40thou over, 1300 ones. Unclejake
^ If you can come up with any further detail I would be keen to know. Thanks mang. P.S. - who build's your engines if you don't mind saying
Gaz
If the bore doesnt need a bore and pistons sweet then I would'nt bother. In my 2l I did'nt notice the extra power from boring it 60tho out. Unless your boring 90tho Id say dont bother unless you want to for new pistons. Gaz
two_days_late
Alan Fisher in Gisborne is buildin my escort motor at the moment, definately knows his stuff. Is tweaking the valvetrain at the moment to get the max performance from my cam. He used to own Fisher Automotive so still has all the parts catalogues and orders straight from the suppliers. Will ask him the exact specs on the head gasket for ya when i call him next. Matt
Raizer
OT but i can 150% vouch for Fisher!

sholdowa
Well, I did a google on kent and f78, having never heard of it... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HMS_Kent_(F78) shit! Unlikely to fit many engines round here. And it still is the first match if you add camshaft to the search.
Raizer
Its not listed on Kent's site either.
mk2_escort
hey mate i might have exactly what you are after. iv got a 1600 and 1300 engine both in peices in my workshop at the moment not doing anything. 1600 is a 711m block and is a standard engine and looks in good nik. the 1300 engine was said to be putting out 100hp at the wheels and was in a rally car, but i have no proof and dont know if i believe that myself. anyway. it has been bored out 30 or 60 thou, i cant remember, i think it was 30, and has 1300 flat top pistons. also, 1300 head is ported. and on top of that i have a BCF2 camshaft for it. itl all need a clean etc before being rebuilt and put back together and would make a mean little engine for the street. and if you like the lumpy idle, im sure the cam would do that as i have one in my new engine and sounds awesome. pm me if you are keen on anything man or send us a txt 0273380713
