Toucan
Nah thats yuck, keep it 1256 for mean slow times
fuel
tis a '74 Viva 1800 with a 2300 fitted, will have bigger diff n brakes etc but yeah keen to keep it 1256 for cheapness for now. Have been toying with the idea of an engine conversion though.. what reasonably small and lightweight four-banger 2L or under could I fit, that is either RWD or can be made RWD cheap/easily would be suitable? Ideally 120+hp would be sweet.
mikuni
Best would definitely be a G200Z which is a singlecam 2L that comes carbed from a rodeo for epic easiness and injected in Piazza for slightly harderness but still pretty easy. If viva is similar mounting to chuv it should bolt in pretty easily with just a custom gb xmember and modified driveshaft. + gemini eng mounts and possibly changed sway bar if the viva has one. But I think that dirty slant engine will be even easier to fit because all the parts are there already and its so dirty it will suit this thing to the ground. I hate them with a passion but fuck, it will be perfect in this with the wideness and the magnum front. Get some webbers or bike carbs sucking hard and it will be so hot. mikuni
Nah thats yuck, keep it 1256 for mean slow times no no no, you don't understand the pain that is a 1256 mister big block G150 man.
Jase
go the slant bro these can be made to haul ass and it quite likely has a zf box behind it for more epic unbreakable ness, twin 45 s
MACKAZ
An aquantiance of mine had one for years with a 2.3 in it. went extremely well, had a single 48mm sidedraft on it......but in talking to him 3 or 4 years ago with whats available now he would go Jap DOHC.... fuel
nah would prefer to keep it carbed. That 2T-GEU I have would be a good candidate, but it's so large and heavy for a 100hp 1600cc engine.
mikuni
It would be cool to see in there but if you have to modify everything to get it in there you might as well do something decent. Bolt in slant. Do it.
fuel
guy with slant viva wants over $400 for it, it's rusty and not even running. Does have rostyles though. the 2300 is only 110hp and has a 5000rpm redline.. seems like a lazy pig to me.
fuel
just bid up to $600 on it, and the reserve is 15% away. Seems too expensive for a non-runner.
mikuni
true that is quite pig like. even the 16v version only made 135hp and spun all the way up to 5500. lol if you could get a running doner for about $300-400 it would probably be worth it for amount of bolt in upgrade parts but otherwise meh
fuel
yeah fully, they have a bigger diff and bigger brakes also. I would have stretched to $400 if it were running but otherwise not keen.

fuel
could be a good idea, but from the sounds of it not easy to find the RWD bits needed.
