kyteler
Yeah, sounds about right. He probably got it from an impounded or abandoned one or some shit.
kpr
all good hilux diffs come from hick towns, or dodgy car dumps. i made 100 bucks from my hilux conversion after scoring 2 of them from the car dump. and selling one some of them you can trim the ends off the axles and just shorten the case if needed. as theres extra spine up the shafts. think i got about 20mm each side on mine

mark105
hum speaking about hilux rear ends, do they actually have tractor sized axels like i was shown at targa? cause if so fuck that, that thing would weigh a fuckin tonne. need to drill out centers of drive shafts to 1/2 the weight stz. zep
Nah they're not that fat aye. Maybe 30-50% larger than the standard Geminin ones I had before.
Spencer
a light flywheel and good light wheels will more than make up for it. Think of the radius of a axle compared to a wheel its moment of inertia is fuck all
mark105
yer just asking for dad, as when you already have done all that and weight is an issue and your sticking in a diff twice the weight of the current one, axels we was shown are twice the diameter of the capri diff thats in there now. kpr
i gotta pull my diff apart soon, will measure the axles when its in bits
Spencer
Id be more concerned over the total weight of the diff than the axles like I said there inertia is fuck all
Testament
an entire hilux rear axle is something like 80-90kg, landcruiser fyi is 120kg
Burntrubber
I weighed one complete with falcon disks on it and it was right on 80kg's it was the short 2wd one cant remember how wide they are. It also had Gemini spring seats on it which might weigh like 1kg more than the Hilux leaf mounts.

RT
you can eliminate axle tramp with a set of traction bars or anti-tramp rods. I've run both and they work very well.
