Bistro
let me know how ya get on with your mounting and shit, cos im doing mine now aswell. yea im following your thread, you mount your first though hahaha, give me some ideas. yea engine bay is yuck. just gonna tidy up wiring and hit it with some degreaser...again. the engine is clean(ish....as a comparison to the rest of the car) but not paineted or polished. cant be fucked. just want it in there/going. todays plan has now become tonights plan fuel tank/lines out strip front interior give the chop to old mounts and batt tray start sorting out some of the wiring get the 13b and box together if i can find my nuts and bolts yea. bout time i did it eh. shizzl
dont chop the entire mount of yet.. i chopped mine down by half.cos ive figured a good way to mount it off the crossmember instead of the chassis rail.. have you figured out a return line for your tank? i take it well have to put our fuel lines on the passengers side? i thought of running them in the car next to the tunnel.. mm PP... who built your motor? Bistro
im just gonna go front mount, 2" box tube across the front and along the rails, 45degree mounts and use a std front mount type mount if you get what i mean. so have a mount like that blue one http://images.trademe.co.nz/photoserver ... 2_full.jpg and then have it on your rubber mounts off of some box tube that runs across. yea i was gonna run all my fuel likes down by the passnger side rails. prob gonna run a fuel cell or something so its easy down that end and then just run them across the firewall. will prob make up some protection for them in the bay just in case as well. ill make a full loop scatter sheild round the bellhousing etc also. cos im not keen on that shit flying everywhere if it lets go and cutting up fuel links and then having an electrc fuel pump keep pissing in in the engine bay. although ive also heard of another precaution where you can run power of fuel pump through oil pressure, so if that drops right off it just cuts fuel essentionally and saves motor etc. anyone shed light on this? i think wde_bdy mentioned it perhaps. just a mate in chch built it. better run good lol. shizzl
yeah,i chopped the bottom off it.and welded a bit of flat bar to it for the gearbox mount to sit on.. its primo. i found making a xmember off the swaybar mounts is ideal cos the bolt holes in the chassis are tubed,so its strong, and if you wanna put a different motor in later you just unbolt the mounts and get new swaybar mounts.better than welding to the chassis i thought.. Bistro
Well had to bring Hilux home cos mates moved out of there place where it was at. Only really got room for one vehicle here. Pulled cover off Chalky to get some parts out to sell etc and its pretty rusty. Need some serious surgery to get it to a wof standard. Ie, both sills, All around the drivers door hinge on the pillar area, Both c pillars, bottom of both front guards, under the boot etc etc. I mean it was bogged up before I got it and it's just gotten worse. Sure i could rangi it up and shit and it could be a maggot piece with badarse motary but I'd sooner spend the same amount of money on a tidy vehicle and have the possibility of getting it road worthy without doing major rust removal. Ive also been thinking about doing a jap/period style 323 hatch for a while as well so yea. If I find a tidy one... So I might just put the rolling body and some other parts on trademe and getting some money together to start Hilux and then look for a spud bug in a while. Im sorry I've crushed you all. All of you. Sorry everyone. This could have been mean but I'll just pull an Allan and do another one later.
