  1. At least it's only happening to a corona. I see nothing wrong with what's going on here, at least he's actually got the drive to get some stuff done. My first car was a FX-ZI AE92, I shudder to think what it would have looked like if I'd actually got round to doing anything to it. I was reading NZPC in the mid 2000's and thought that body kits and custom leather interiors were what my corolla needed. Anyway, let him have his fun, he'll look back and laugh, like I do at some of my old ideas.
  2. Are we talking full time? Starting this time next month I'll be looking for 2ish full days a week, if that's suitable? Am an experienced builder's mate, have done plumbing etc and am a full time engineering student.
  3. Well there you go. I'd be keen for a ride in a manual 1ggze car if anyone has one though. I've got a box and bellhousing in the garage. I'm not 100% sold on that idea though, I've got used to auto for commuting/ eating while driving etc.
  4. Good, I'm pleased to know that the gearbox passed rigorous reliability testing. I'd assumed it was pretty rare with the SC. It's definitely got some sweet options.
  5. Since I sold my carina wagons I've been dailying a U13 Bluebird. I decided on this because: SR20, cheap, low kms. The idea was to have something I wouldn't have to touch. Unfortunately, it's soul destroyingly boring and I've spent as much fixing it in my 6 months of ownership as I did in several years on the wagon with more than twice the mileage. So, new idea: find something that is still a bit more modern/comfy than the 85 AND that I actually like so that I won't mind fixing it too much. tadaa: Dylann's GX81. I said I'd buy it right at the start of the year and picked it up this week. Dylan didn't complain once, what a GC. For those who're unfamiliar with the FS thread, it's a supercharged 2 litre 1GGZE with a blown autobox. It did not come with wheels, found some Soarer wheels that'll be OK for now. I went and picked it up with assistance from Berjjj. Here are the rest of the pics from his thread: I went and had a play with it today, it starts and runs ok but has a hunting idle. Everything works, the A/C, all the electrics (mirrors, windows, locking, demister, seat etc) My plans are more of a restoration than massive modifications: -Vacuum up all the spiders -Replace slushbox (came with car) -replace radiator (acquired) -Tidy up interior (sourced, yet to acquire) -repaint cheap rattle canned exterior panels -reinstate TEMS shocks (sourced, yet to acquire) Cruise the shit out of it. In this last picture, is that a catalytic converter light?
  6. Awesome man. Don't know what any of the BMW numbers mean, but keen to help on this instead of starlet. Got my crane here, don't forget that.
  7. I live in Glenfield. Guess I'm just unlucky...
  8. Not too thoroughly, I hope. I always keep an eye out for this car, but I haven't spotted it yet.
  9. It's hard to say whether the diff is abnormally noisy, I've never driven another car with a 2way lsd. It is hella noisy though. Any way to quantify the noise? I'm not sure what was pulled apart for the install, I know that it's got new bearings and crush tubes. Thanks for the help so far! If it makes any difference, it's a t series and TRD diff, installed by Brendan Duncker.
  10. I went to replace the pinion seal on my AE85 yesterday and ran into something I wasn't expecting. There's a lot of play in the input to the diff, and every wiggle summons fresh drips of oil. I didn't think the pinion seal would cause play like that, it's several mm side to side. I had the LSD set up and installed into a new (second hand) nugget. Is there something else that's worn out? Or should I carry on and do the seal? Cheers.
  11. Nice. These should be good for 700hp, right?
  12. When you stand at the back, what height is the shelf thing relative to you? For scale purposes. What are your plans for cooking/beer storage facilities back there?
  13. What lols me is you don't even want that PCD.
  14. Nice one man. I've got to admit I hated the black grille and bumpers when you got it, now that it's all coming together, I've got to say that it looks awesome!
  15. Piece of cake mate. I've only ever been on 1 train.
  16. You can use the one from your current engine if the new one don't fit. It'll bolt on to the new engine.
  17. Fucking car. It's thrown out all it's redline shockproof through the pinion seal in the diff. Also has a new running problem. Runs sweet as for a few minutes, then starts cutting out and backfiring under load but still idles sweet as. Turn the car off and turn it straight back on and get another few minutes out of it. Under no load but 4000ish rpm it drops itself back a few hundred rpm and starts hunting like a bad idle. Couldn't test drive due to no diff oil. Additionally, the right headlight has stopped popping up. The only good news is that I got onto the rear edge of the front passengers guard with multigrips and bent it out of the way of the door. Take that.
  18. Not too many differences in the loom if it's from a GA70 then? I was curious about this myself.
  19. Should be pretty straight forward doing the mechanical stuff. What car did it come from? If it was a GX61 1GGE then it'll be the easiest swap ever.
  20. I didn't feel that simply liking that post was sufficient to express my Like level.
  21. YOU GOT THE WRONG FORD THERES NO PINTO
  22. If we were friends on facebook, and you had that latest picture up, I would find it hilarious to tag you on the CUNT. So looking forward to seeing more progress, this car has so much potential.
