  1. Update, Spent most of my time sanding/cleaning up the exterior bit and painting a few of the worst areas, new front fenders and right headlight as all the mounts had been broken and the grille/light was all out of shape. Leaks power steering fluid pretty bad, in the process of fixing it at the moment. Also got some flares for darn cheap
  2. The white Lazer? I did snap a photo of it i must have forgotten to upload it. Ill post it up later on tonight
  3. If anybody wants any of the original res images, message me. Cheers,
  4. Tyres came with the wheels which were ridiculously cheap and they were pretty much brand new, couldnt really justify buying more tyres. I'm stubborn
  5. Cheers for the wisdom! The rear flaring was really a functional hack over a looks thing, the wheels rubbed very badly even with only two people in the front seats, and i do believe its something that can and will be tided up. Funny you mention the touring car thing, on my to do list was some kind of improvised front lip and some skirts, from the start i was going for the agressive stance. At the end of the day the only person i should be trying to impress is myself, I am more than happy (i actually encourage it) to accept opinions and criticism, and the awesome thing about this car is that its going to keep changing and i'm going to keep learning so i can develop a my own sense of whats possible in terms of style. Thats an awesome thread the widebody 86 looks wicked, ill spend a bit of time going through it. Cheers,
  6. Alright, update time. Took it for a spin down the road, filled tyres up and put some fresh gas in it, runs like a champ. Got new front fenders from pickapart (These ones are staying stock and the other set will have flares attached to them) Put old front wheels back on, will be running on them for the Wof (Coming soon) Got rid of most of the surface rust today, i will be getting hands on a petrol powered waterblaster to strip off that peeling paint so hopefully its back down to primer, Also flared the rear arches a bit more, we found the next best thing in fender rolling tech.
  7. Got the front wheels on, had to run pretty massive adaptors to clear brakes but its semi flareable and looks interesting? Its perfectly retarded.
  8. Sure, the rust fix was a bit dodgy to say the least, but it just needs to stop water dripping down into the firewall/inner front guard. It turned out pretty good for the time/effort I didn't put into it. Yes it is indeed the Chris amon edition, its got a peice of trim on the door with the name, although I think its lost its racing pedigree over the years.... Yes I do have the original wheels, I may be looking to part with them in the near future
  9. Jb weld is a strong two part adhesive dubbed as a 'cold weld'. All I did was scavenge some aluminium from the lid of a broken MacBook I had tin snipped them to size and test fitted the peices, drilled holes for wiper mounts then attatched with screws and the JB weld and a bit of sealant then a protective coat of rattle can spray. I cleaned up the rust with an angle grinder with a wire brush wheel.
  10. Thats awesome, its crazy what you can get for less than a grand. Ontop of the $600 i found sunblock, battery terminals, screwdrivers, an ipod charger, box of panadol and a whole lot of change in the glovebox (Which the key didnt open, i had to break the lock) That dont really make up for the difference though
  11. Hi all, I wanted to share a project that i have been working on for the past few weeks after coming to the last Auckland old school meet i was convinced i needed a second car to exercise my mechanical ideas on. It started as a 1987 Toyota Corona which was listed on Trademe, With its 2.0L Fuel injected engine and Front wheel/Automatic characteristics i figured i could get it cheap and make it an awesome weekend hack. After test driving it, and finding out that the thing drove great (No spluttering, jerking or grinding) i picked it up for $600, It needed some minor rust repair and a new battery. When i got it back to the garage i changed the plugs, oil, oil filter, checked the filter and picked up a second hand battery, After that it ran great! Some JB Weld and some spare aluminium i had covered up the rust nice, at the same time i got the windsheild replaced. We went to pick-a-part mangere and found some seats out of a volvo, we ripped all the carpet out, took out the rear seats/belts and mounted the new seats. I nabbed some cheap steelies which has been widened and got them redrilled by the good blokes at Arrow Wheels, I'm going to have to get some adaptors to fit on the fronts to clear the brakes, but the backs look great. Also we rolled the guards with a baseball bat, turned out pretty good. I'm going to be doing plenty more work on it, so i will keep this updated. And for the record, i know this may not come under 'old school' age, but i reckon it holds a lot of the old school spirit and the front still has that older toyota look, And this thing was built/assembled in Thames! Right in our backyard and that has to count for something. Shout out to: Mk2Marty and Benzover for the many many days of help Some more photodumping
  12. Hi all, This is my first post on Old School, Ive been to one of your Auckland meets before and it tempted me to buy an older car, i managed to get my hands on a 1987 Corona with suspension 'fettled' by the famous Chris Amon, Unfortunantly for Chris, I plan on slamming this thing. I got some pretty wide steelies for a really good price with tyres but they are a 4x114.3 whereas my 'Rona is 4x100, Is there a possibility i could get these slotted or redrilled? Ill add a photo and see if anyone who has had this done before knows if theres enough metal there to support it, Safety first. If it seems possible, If anybody has reccomendations to who could do the job that would be awesome, if it comes down to it i may just have to get some hub adpators with the hub-centric rings. Cheers, Anthony
