    RUST

Haven't read this too thoroughly but be aware there are two different chemicals widely used.. Tannic acid is used in rust converters. I believe it doesn't remove the rust like phosphoric acid does- it just turns it black. Rust converters don't sit too well with me because I know for a fact that their ability to penetrate rust is severely limited. It's OK probably for extremely light surface rust but for anything else you will find under the very thin black okide there is just normal that (which hasnt been slowed down) Hope this clears that one up Edit. I remove everything I possibly can mechanically and then brush with converter then (when ready) clean back to bare steel and epoxy when ready. I'm absolutely no expert but the converter always manages to pick up a few tiny specs in the steel and turn them black.. I'm happy enough that those have been dealt with (though maybe phosphoric acid would be better )
  2. Cheers mate. These vband flanges were a special order- I had them made with male and female spiggot on the mating faces. I figure it's just an extra path for any gas to travel. I could also have the tube protruding! Probably a good idea!
  3. Could have also been incorrect weld filler material or stresses introduced during modifications
  4. I always thought the thermal fatigue applied mostly to stainless manifolds that were wrapped.
  5. Haven't spent much time round the back of the cab hence the spiders. I bought this panel home, trimmed the ends, shrunk the top fold a little to make the panel curve very gently (need to do it slightly more) and it fuckin fits! Ok one last plug for these guys! http://www.earlsbodyshop.co.nz Before After
  6. 5 years is good! I think I'll go with this actually..and wrap headers too. Watch "POR15 High Temprature paints" on YouTube
  7. Man the R value logic is great- I hadn't actually considered this!
  8. Jesus. So should have gone stainless haha. Meh.
  9. Hey Ned! You got that ecu in yet?
  10. Hey is HPC coating still a done thing/ worth the cost for an exhaust? I saved heaps by getting mild steel exhaust stuff BUT am now thinking hpc silver would be nice... Does it stop the zorst rusting/don't they rust from the inside out anyway?

Haha that's cool.. It might bounce around a bit tho
  12. I'm so confused.
  13. would be affecting the cars ability to crumple?
  14. Interesting about the tires. My bro-in-law has spent a REDICULIOUS amount on huge r888s for his Falcon.. Has confused me since they won't last
  15. Make a vacuum gauge for one of your vehicles Edit. Or a digital dash based around these things.
  16. If the other suggestions don't work (some locknuts are designed so that no normal socket or wrench can get enough grip) get a socket that fits over it very snugly.. Then fill it with bog before ya smack it back over the nut. Use an old rachet without the ball detent release thing (you will fuck it) and keep the ratchet on the socket when you put it on so all the bog can't escape. Wait for it to set hard.
  17. I got the zorst bits. Flow master mufflers etc so very happy. Then bought 4 sets of mild steel vband flanges from DSR (great blokes to deal with and great pricing) and got some flexis from STA. Had 15 minutes spare at work today so zzzzzt. Bloody love doing exhausts for some reason.
  18. Nick I want it!
  19. So is it the arm that changes position or the shock? (Relative to the bottom arm)
  20. Lol I assumed he ment fix holes
  21. Are socks the right attire for a static sensitive area? Lol
  22. Oh man, I feel for ya! Not much more frustrating than stuck bolts (and stuck broken drill bits) You might have to make some sort of bush fixture to align the drillbit over the hole. Such a pain.
  23. I'll try again tonight. I tried sending the page full of files/description etc and it just gave me a pretty non descript error. I'll try again tonight
