  1. Should be easy enough to pick up a used one? You wouldn't be getting any warranty on a new one from Aus anyway.
  2. Post Beach Hop update (couldn't go in November 2022 sadly) At the end of January, the convertible top stopped working, luckily in the garage. It's been getting slower for the last couple of years I suppose. The hydraulic pump lives behind the back seat, unfortunately also behind the subwoofer back there. I checked with PG Hydraulics who basically said that if the wiring is OK, just get a new pump as they are not easy to get parts for. The pump is fairly common to many US cars of the era. Northwestern Ford had one in stock which seemed the best option given the weight and timeline. Old vs new. Swap over went OK except for an incident with the rubber bung popping out while cycling/bleeding the system which made a bit of mess. Also did a bit of a service - oil + filter and grease gun session underneath. Drive up/back was fine, no issues. Beach Hop itself was fun as usual The rebuilt booster has never been quite right, with an audible vacuum leak when applying the brakes. I've been igoring it as the car has mostly been stored down the road in a chicken shed for the last year. But tonight I bit the bullet and pulled the booster out again to send back to CBC for them to look at. Getting it out is fairly easy, getting it back in and connected to the brake pedal is a ballache.
  3. Kit Car disease I expect, no idea if this is about that specific shell, but I'm sure you know the type.
  4. Keen on rescuing another fibreglass orphan @~Slideways~? 1978 Other Escartus | Trade Me Motors Could be
  5. Somewhere in my old stack of Practical Classics there's a story on a bloke with a private junkyard who build a TS3-powered vintage special on a truck or bus chassis.
  6. You seem to be getting good at dropping the engine/box out. Practice makes perfect? Sweet ride though.
  7. Even has the barry mod of being welded to the crossmember instead of being bolted under the battery tray as god intended.
  8. Have this in the 'round tuit' pile. Will work on 12V I think. Plan is to use it on a bead roller. I think it's from an electric wheelchair or similar.
  9. Weekend with a mig welder would sort that out.
  10. We can use the copper/nickel brake line here, e.g. https://www.repco.co.nz/en/parts-service/braking/brake-hoses/cunifer-nickel-copper-brake-tube-7-6m-roll-3-16in-kunifer-3-16/p/A1307666
  11. Depends what you want the cover to do - if you don't care too much about the paint then the silvery heavy duty tarps do a fairly good job of keeping the rain off. Anything else is really a compromise and they will likely all cause some paint wear.
  12. Picked this up yesterday, probably won't have much generator protection. No idea if it goes though.
  13. Always pleased to see a wagon update! Weird caliper design, never seen 3-piston ones before.
  14. Well, there's more that could be plugged in. The water pump can just be run once in a while to fill the header tanks in the house. We only have tank water, and while there is usually plenty in the tanks, getting it into the house needs the pump. That way the wetback would heat the water if needed too. Cheap option, J5 spec without the fancy changeover wiring. https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/marketplace/business-farming-industry/industrial/generators/diesel/listing/3998497842
  15. Yeah, it's hard to get a generator around on appro. Looking at something about like this Hyundai Diesel Silenced Generator 5000W - Diesel - Traditional - Generators - Tools & Hardware at Trade Tested
  16. Yeah, it's always starting against load / water pressure. I reckon a 5kw should be ok.. .
  17. @fletch How big a generator would I need to start/run this water pump? The little 1kw Honda I got from my folks won't do it.
  18. Still good for stress relief / paddock mowing
