  1. Here's a HAMB thread on building a steel BH. Looks quite achievable. At least steel welding is easier. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=328096
  2. It probably isn't much help at this point, but one of the roles of the TAC is to assess whether or not something that normally isn't allowed, can "due to unusual or special circumstances" be used safely. So, while it is a rule book, it is not absolute. This stuff is in section 2.10 btw.
  3. Never knew there was gold in Koputaroa!
  4. That Merc wagon was sweet. Not sure on the 'bird with the carb though the bonnet though - cognitive dissonance? /still suffering BH withdrawal
  5. Another one saved from the Ministock crowd.
  6. So, has anyone stepped up and completed an airbag system lately. I'm giving it serious consideration for the big Merc. The existing leaf springs are shagged (and sagged). Travelling to/from the Beach Hop with 4 on board and a boot full of women's clothes the springs are reverse-arched and the rear bumper is seriously low. Since fixing that will cost some $ anyway, converting to bags is an option, then I could deal with the front as well. The biggest issue is the rear suspension - bag on leaf doesn't look like a good option, so some form of triangulated 4-link (or 3-link) looks like being necessary. I can engineer this myself. On the plus side, I have a York AC compressor and appropriate factory engine mount kicking around already. Since some of the links in the thread are now old, are there any current recommendations for NZ suppliers of valves etc? This pic is from a couple of years back, worse now with the new bellflower pipes below the rear quarters.
  7. Yeah, that's ours. I wasn't lounging behind it, that was the dudes with the other cars nearby. I did sit at the picnic table for a while though. Brought the bellflower pipes back from the USA last year in a snowboard bag. Worst thing about the BH is coming back to work afterwards. Sucks badly!
  8. Outside: Inside! Rear view - looks tame Front view - not so! Back seat randoms
  9. Got home yesterday - mucho knackered. A great week!
  10. Will be plenty of eye candy Saturday especially. Fab weather too, looking forward to another nice day at Onemana. Some camaros as usual, but plenty of other things too.
  11. I doubt anyone would notice if the towball is 5 mm off-centre. How about a porta-power and gas torch to bend the existing plates into submission?
  12. ^That's for a remote booster, and would give you boosted fronts only on a dual circuit system. My project has a small dual circuit Mitsi (or somesuch) with booster under the floor. The dual fillers (Wilwood parts) are separate from the master.
  13. Ok - getting hyped for this already, Entry packs arrived in the mail today. Car is fixed (new heater core, water pump, and alternator). Accommodation is set (Barbara ave, just behind the main st, near the camping ground) Budget for fuel is sorted (what else are credit cards for?) Who else will be there?
  14. After a personal inspection, I agree on the wheels - very fetching!
  15. Did you get the drums skimmed/shoes arced to the drums? I spent heaps on some Riley 1.5 front drums on my Minor. They stop OK but the LHS one is very grabby. All new bits too. Drum brake lyfe!
  16. Was a fairly small event - on track wise - this time. Still fun though, and I got a ride in 32 3-window for the parade Big heavy Pontiac Ate a tire after one-too-many understeers Surprised this didn't have an OS sticker. Not sure where this came from.... Hmmm
  17. On today. We'll be there about 11:30 I guess. Holden Kingswood.
  18. Just keep an eye on the gauge/fit idiot light/keep switch on all the time.
  19. Brighter colour would be my recommendation, unless you want to look distinguished.
  20. In the edit window, click on the picture icon, which gives a popup box to past the picture link into. Should be pretty easy, I just used your links.
  21. A few more pics Visiting Vauxhalls And a sweet wagon Madbuz and I were outnumbered by GMs!
  22. Looks tatty. Hope you are dedicated!
  23. Better if you inline the pics, like so.
